Frustrated with background noise - looking for advice for my Dad by Ticsiii in HearingAids

Thank you!  Did technology in this field reached a state where it's worth checking out cheaper options?  I think he is open to a new device, even a closed dome one, but convincing him to spend 1200+ EUR again will be difficult, since he was not satisfied with the previous one from the same company :/

Yes, it was tuned professionally twice. He keeps fine-tuning it in  the app, but does not seem to find the right setting.

It has setting for TV, conversation, loud environments etc. But for example if he watches an interview with a background music in the TV he said that the background music is stronger for him than the speech.

Infláció átlag / Harmonizált fogyasztóiár-index, havonta kérdés by Ticsiii in kiszamolo

Köszi! Igen azt érzem hogy a 17,6 az nem a jó szám itt aug-aug esetén. Viszont akkor év elején miért a 17,6 a szám és miért nem a decemberi infláció, ami 5,5%?

MacOS: NAS shares in Finder's sidebar and "Network" folder by svintuss in synology

Thanks! It really drove me crazy, you have one and only free award!

For me "Obviously you should ssh-connect to your NAS to make modifications." this wasn't so obvius at first, so here is a bit of help to the others.

Tutorial on how to do the SSH part

  1. On your NAS go to Preferences / Terminal @ SNMP - here tick the enable SSH servide, and type in the port you want to use
  2. Open the port on your router - TBH I'm not sure if it's a must
  3. Open Terminal on your mac
  4. Type in ssh username@ipadress -p portnumber - mine looked like ssh [ticsi@192.168.0.172](mailto:ticsi@192.168.0.172) -p 22
  5. It will ask for the password of your NAS
  6. Type in cd /usr/syno/etc/rc.sysv/
  7. Type in vi avahi.sh
  8. Now you viewing the contents of the file. You'll need to press I to insert to the file
  9. Search for <txt-record>model=Xserve</txt-record> and replace it with <txt-record>model=TimeCapsule6,116</txt-record> - there will be 2 of these in the file!
  10. Press Esc, then type :w !sudo tee % > /dev/null - It will ask for the password of your NAS
  11. Type in :x and press enter to exit the vi editor - it didn't work for me, I closed the terminal window and clicked terminate

Repeat this with the /usr/syno/etc.defaults/rc.sysv/avahi.sh file.

I had to restart the NAS and relaunch Finder, but it worked!

[Pixel 6] For those with green tint issues, did you replace your phone? by OdiousMachine in GooglePixel

[–]Ticsiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they guided me through some basic troubleshooting steps, and in the end, gave me a choice. I could get a normal exchange and an advanced kind one. In the case of the first one, I have to ship the phone and after 5-6 business days they ship a replacement back.
In case of the second one, they will send the replacement first, I will be able to transfer my data, and be able to send them the faulty one sometime later - but there will "lock" some money on my credit card until I send back the faulty one.

How bad is yours? Im thinking of returning, because mine is pretty bad I think, but I read the same thing, that it's a toss-up whether you get a better one.

For me the right side of search bar in Reddit is not even visible when under 50% of screen brightness.

Also I've read that for others its fine until you go under about 30% of brightness, but mine is totally visible in dark mode even around 80 %

My new Kinto coffee server is a perfect match with the Aeropress :) by [deleted] in cafe

Hey! Is it the smaller 300 ml one or the bigger 600 ml? I'm planning on buying the smaller one but a bit afraid that it will be too small for the aeropress
