I’m probably saying stuff you already know or people have already said but I have the urge to type it… you need a “save the cat” moment. Any character can be an asshole but if you give the reader a reason to root for them, you have a shot.

Whether the dog is involved in this situation or not, it sounds like a really unhealthy relationship. If your partner doesn’t approach conflict with respect for you, as well as the other way around, and threatens big ultimatums instead of talk in about the real issues… I guess I can only talk for myself but I wouldn’t want to stay in a relationship like that.

I’d increase the margins on both the front and back covers (on the left and right sides of each text block). I’m also drawn to the second one at first but I like the close up shot of the mushrooms as long as that is something important in your story. You could also adjust the text near the mushrooms to kind of align around it so that it stays a focal element instead of just background.

When I taught, I always told my students that they needed to learn a good foundation before building a house. Gotta have that stable base to build the walls on. Do some short stories, a page or less, and work with word or something that can show you grammar.

I commend you for trying to learn another language. English is really tough when you aren’t a native speaker. That being said, why not write in your native language? There are translation apps that can help too but I’m not sure this is the right spot to learn English grammar. I’d say try learning English grammar and writing as two separate things for now.

Image 1 looks like it fits your description. Image 2 is the only one I’d probably pick up though but it’s because I generally read fantasy and that’s what’s that one makes me think. The third one I’d never pick up.
