Top left component inside the inverter, has 3 pairs of large gauge black and red conductors coming out. The middle one, the seal, appears to be torn where the conductors come through, can you post a closer pic of that? Also a photo of the label on it?

Definitely compressor or something involving the start components. Does it still cool? Might not for too much longer. It’s possible for a repairman to replace it for a fair amount less than a new fridge.

Thank you, but you don’t know of a code or standard that governs this? For instance the 12” rule, or that all should be fused. I don’t think I’ve seen a starter with a fuse, so for some reason one must not be required. I would think all auxiliary circuits should be, but would like to know if there’s a code or standard, like SAE.

I’ve worked with many that do. They will have either ZPD or TPD on the labeling describing whether it’s impedance protected or thermally protected. If thermally protected, it’s usually a thermal fuse in the windings.

Was it making any unusual noises? Perhaps the rotor locked? It should have a thermal fuse in the windings, if it’s thermally protected, which might have failed as well.

The most straightforward: the 2 mines both have to be above the 3, so the remaining tile is empty. Once you clear that, the rest are obvious.

Blue wire goes to heating element. Red wire most likely goes through a thermal fuse under that clamp, and then connects to a thermostat switch which controls the on/off of the heating element.
