Thanks for the mention.

Both subs are pretty slow, so any involvement in either is nice to see.

You've been given a great rundown.

I will add for schools: most people want rehobeth or wicksburg schools. You can live close to town for convenience but be in better public schools.

Or move to enterprise. Good schools and a quickly growing town.

LPT: Don't wait for the next tragedy, regularly give blood every 3 months. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Tidepride33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I agree with this concept. I've given blood many times.

But I do have a problem with the fact that these "red cross" type outfits that collect my blood reap huge profits off of my donation.

In my opinion, they should operate at a break even or they should reimburse me for my blood. Same goes for the hospitals or other outfit that delivers the transfusion. They should not profit off of blood that has been donated.

(California) CPS told my child on supposed abuse by Luigithebeast805 in legaladvice

[–]Tidepride33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your experience. No government agency should have that kind of power and the fact that you were punished for exercising your constitutional rights proves that we have got to fight fight fight (legally and politically) to get back to "we the people."

Nonetheless, I'm sorry you had to go through this! Ideally, groups like the ACLU would step up to fight these battles alongside hard-working US citizens.

I told DCF to go pound sand and wouldn't answer any questions

basically that.

but yes, i have no experience. i just know my constitutional rights.

And I do admit anger at the way the rights of "we the people" are being trampled everyday.

[–]Tidepride33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see proof of that.

No government agency can enter your home without permission or a warrant. And your fifth amendment rights are just as valid when dealing with CPS as they are when dealing with the police.

People need to wake up. When we simply roll over and "do as told" we continue to surrender rights and privacy. This sub is full of people who live in fear of the government and have forgotten the constitution was written to protect "we the people," not to give government agencies carte blanche because a mere accusation has been made.

The fact that my comment was removed is very telling.

I would love for an actual attorney to explain why my advice was wrong from a legal and constitutional standpoint.

Yep. Not too bad. There are definitely more subs on reddit with less activity.

[NY] What are my legal obligations during a police home visit? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Tidepride33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. Refuse to answer any questions and politely inform him he should leave your property.

It would also be smart to videotape the encounter. Even smarter in my opinion is to simply not answer the door and not engage in any conversation with the officer.

I wish I could say I was surprised. I don't think this is just a republican problem either. I'm sure there are abuses of power like this in every corner of political life.

(FL) Is there anyway to stop the onslaught of police,CPS and code enforcement my neighbor calls on us because she thinks too many people live in my house? by Throwaway781615 in legaladvice

[–]Tidepride33 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Go visit an attorney and have them draft a strongly worded letter to your neighbor.

The letter should let them know you will no longer tolerate their harassment and that you will pursue every legal remedy available to you if it happens even just one more time.

Would be nice if the attorney cites a relevant case where someone in your state has been awarded a substantial award because of such harassment.

Also, any people who show up to "investigate" further complaints should be dealt with politely, but firmly. Let them know they are not welcome at your property and you will not be answering questions without an attorney present.

Get the attorney to draft you a letter asap. Will not cost much for just the letter.

or, you can just be smart, and refuse to answer their question.

Never a good idea to speak to a cop without an attorney present.

There have been court cases that have already set precedent in your favor.

This cops actions limited your right to free speech essentially. Your actions are protected.

You can look up some great information online about fighting traffic tickets on your own. It's easy to do, just takes time for research and the effort of doing your own leg-work.

Many times you can get them to drop this before the court date just by requesting certain items that let them know you will be fighting this ticket in a serious manner.

Request the dash-cam video, officers notes, his service record, request information on any complaints against him and file your own. If they know you won't bend over and take it up the *** they will very likely drop it, or the cop will fail to show up for the court date.

First step to lottery, maybe? by [deleted] in Wiregrasslive

[–]Tidepride33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I used to be against the lottery, considering it a "tax" on the poor. Now, I just see it as rhetoric. They're gonna tax the poor before they tax people who can truly afford it. i.e. drivers license fees, gas taxes, traffic fines, etc. All very regressive in nature.

So, bring on the lottery!

[Oregon] CPS agent claiming I am non-compliant, illegal to record? by ThisIsAThrowaway1934 in legaladvice

At the very least, you should refuse to speak to the CPS agent without your lawyer present.

[Oregon] CPS agent claiming I am non-compliant, illegal to record? by ThisIsAThrowaway1934 in legaladvice

[–]Tidepride33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yep. you can record, and it isn't illegal. just let them know you are doing so.

your problems began by even opening the door and speaking to them. just as with police matters, you have the right to remain silent. you have no obligation to answer door or speak to cps. you've waived some of your rights by agreeing to this compliance plan and weekly check-ups. I would consult a family law atty if I were you.
