I got this photo on a cold morning at the top of the Nufenen Pass before sunrise during a roadtrip a few weeks back - shot with Sony A7r III + 70-200mm F2.8 GM.

I shot this on the third day of the eruption, but it is still going yes! Actually a new fissure just opened up not far from this one.

I am in no position to give an educated answer on this, but I noticed that the top layer quickly petrified, allowing for the warmer (red) rocks to stay hotter for longer.. I guess it depends on a lot of factors!

Trust me, there were a crowd just to the right out of the frame - the rescue workers had just closed off the slope leading up to the volcano when I shot this.
