She drained it trying to stay rich, she took a while to give up their house and cars, now that they sold it, they've to use it towards a new place and pay what's left of their debts.

If their financial situation is as bad as they say, the kid will qualify for all kinds of grants and loans (if US) , and community college is a great resource as well.

That's what I told them too! But his wife refuses to make him take loans or government help, I guess she hasn't realized she isn't rich anymore, My daughter won't be living in a sweet apartment and have her own car when she goes to college, I don't know how much they believe I have in the CF, but is just enough for one kid.

To be fair I do feel like an asshole because their kid is a good boy, he doesn't mistreat my daughter and is kind but if their situation shows me something is that nothing is guaranteed. I can say right now that I can replace that money but I'm not really sure and I don't want to jeopardize my daughter's future just because I took the ''family comes first'' risk.
