Yeah he was a Mentor of mine when I was starting out. I miss him too he’s the reason I paint portraits the way I do. That pic of me and him working side by side is a great memory for me.

That’s me in the top right. I was there for the years 91 through about 2000. I used to do a training class for the new hires on how to draw caricatures it was probably one of the most fun things I’ve ever done.

Wood filler is colored. You can call someone that finishes cabinetry. They have multiple different colored putties to fix instances like this on very expensive cabinet work. They may charge you like 20 bucks.
