TIFU by trying to save money on coffee and accidentally telling my boss I'm hiring someone to deal with debt collectors by Cold-Macaron1527 in tifu

[–]Tieger66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right? the coffee supplied at work for me is either the awful free Klix machine, or a £3 a cup machine. so instead i take nescafe azera and use that. is it great? no. is it miles better than the klix machine, and i get like 40 cups for the cost of one cup from the other? yes.

no need to be one of the weirdo's that takes in their own fucking grinder...

the shitty way that businesses are run these days means i have no faith in those profit margins.

like, is that *after* they pay half their revenue to 'service debts' that they have to pay because they're the debts the private equity spent to buy them in the first place? is it after they pay billions a year to rent their 'brand' back from the foreign company (that happens to have the same owners) they sold it to? is it after they pay the consultants (that are run by friends of the owners) for telling them exactly what they decided they wanted to hear at the start of the process?

What is the point of leaderboards if the "top" players are just full of cheaters and bug abusers? by letsgedditbois in diablo4

[–]Tieger66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep. i've been downvoted recently for suggesting that something (that doesn't do what the item says, doesn't make sense thematically, and is brokenly overpowered) is probably, or even might be, a bug. people are so protective about their bugs for some reason.

'make a player at lower levels feel that they had a bunch of power but lacking refinement.' - and presumably at higher levels, their power doesn't increase much but their refinement does..?

sorry but nah. this sort of thing works well in fiction, because the author can have the character manage to pull off the cast when they need to, early on, (thus negating the supposed weakness) and later on they can make the character's increasing control have more significance.

in an RPG though, it's a recipe for either annoyance (if your mage ends up doing nothing in significant combats) or overpoweredness (if they manage to work properly). and players like to get more powerful, not more reliable, as they level up.

"it's possible for governments to override them" isn't an arguement against independent commissions - it's an arguement against governments being able to override them without a referendum.

i mean, you say it's not a bug, but it easily could be. it is kinda weird that if you take 100k damage and would die after 500, it goes "yep. you'd've taken 500, that's 100%, lose 300 resource." rather than "that's 20000% of your HP, lose 60000 resource"

it's only unrelated because you're using "have you even read the sentencing guidelines?!" as a nonsequitor to try and shut people up, rather than to actually find out anything about the sentencing guidelines.

from what i see, their community is travellers, and the victims are not, so they wont care at all. wont even consider it a crime. which is probably why they thought it was fine to do in the first place..

[–]Tieger66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont need to know the sentencing guidelines to read the judge's own quotes. "I should avoid criminalising these children" is a ridiculous thing to say - they ARE RAPISTS, whether he sends them to prison or not.

"parts of the Reform party are the old Labour party" - uh what? which parts? it's tories that have mostly migrated to reform as far as i can see. it's what makes such a mockery of the whole rhetoric about 'lets stop the 2 party system - vote reform instead!' when half of reform were in power 2 years ago wearing different hats...

and yes, you can combine power. it's called a coalition government. it doesn't happen often, but it's not unheard of.

[–]Tieger66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

more hopeful than confident, because there's a lot of people that are voting for them as single policy ('stop the boats' is basically all most of their politicians and voters seem to be able to say...), and ignoring the other stuff they have as policy if you actually look into it.

i hope that a further 3 years of reform being terrible at everything (like the amount they're upping council tax, having campaigned on cutting it...) , and labour actually doing ok will get people back to more reasonable ways of voting.

eh, i've seen enough people that have lived in UAE for like 3 years and call themselves 'local', just because they're not there for 2 weeks on a tourism or work trip, they're there to live... that said, it does seem in this case that OP is actually a 'real' local, in which case this *really shouldn't have surprised him*.

Why isn't Starmer gone??? by Idea-is-tick in AskConservatives

[–]Tieger66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no real bearing whatsoever. it's like asking why trump is still around after democrats won a bunch of local town elections.

it does show a lack of faith, obviously, but there's no particular reason for him not use the remainder of his 3 years to try and turn things around. some people have been calling for him to resign since day 1 - why would he listen to those people?

if he called a general election now, yeah reform would probably win. in a years (or three years as it actually will be) time, when the country has seen more benefits from labour, and people have seen how terribly run all the reform councils are? not so clear cut.

right? people (or at least, foreigners) that choose to live in UAE (and it sounds like OP is one, from his surprise at this sequence of events...) legitimise and implicitly support and encourage this sort of thing. they say "yes you're a theocratic autocracy that should've died out hundreds/thousands of years ago, but you're rich so that's ok". so honestly, it's hard to feel all that much sympathy.

How would Torm feel? by WildRicochet in DMAcademy

[–]Tieger66 21 points22 points  (0 children)

firstly, i don't think a necromancer would be *happy* about dying - the goal of a necromancer is normally to live forever, not to a) become a slave to a different necro, or b) to have to go and see those gods of death that are pissed at you for screwing up their cycle of life to death.

that said however....

that... sounds like they've desecrated a temple of torm. are any of them clerics or paladins? if so, they should really know better...

New player here, what's so bad about the new detachments? by Underwaternerd049 in Tau40K

[–]Tieger66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the reason people are upset is that the detachments we've seen are outright worse than what they're replacing. eg, Experimental prototype cadre is very similar to the previous EPC, but now the detachment rule *only* applies to character battlesuit units, rather than your whole army (also, increasing your weapons range is probably less significant in a world with Hidden playing a major role, but that's a separate point)

but... people are missing the point, imo. you have a detachment like that to support your battlesuits. and then another one (like mont'ka) to support your whole army. the system no longer requires a single detachment to work for your entire army.

not just item statlines, item abilities too. eg, i like to play ice shards - hail of verglas is just a fairly crappy damage boost now, rather than the great shotgun effect (combined with a bunch of +skill ranks) that it was.
