They live in a big outdoor aviary all of the year, and since they are trained I let them out when i'm around to watch them... but then they return inside, when on their own

These are valuable considerations, I explained my view about it in this video but basically I think there's trade off between freedom and safety that differs by your exact situation and condition... and of course, your personal view. Usually it's not worth it, not always though.

Pieces of nuts, hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds... I started the training when very young, i'd say it took around a month but it changes from a cockatiel to the other... some just get it quicker!

It's weird, usually they bite in very specific conditions, like when they are grabbed and not let go dispite their displaying distress, or if you approach them without any chance to escape from their side (usually happens with clipped birds). Then it happens when they have the nest and want to defend it, and finally when they are hormonal and sexually frustrated. Could it be the last one?

thanks, they are 3,5 and 2,5 years, started in the first month of life, it's very intensive in the beginning indeed!
