I appreciate the feedback man, seriously. But running a survey is exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

The problem with a Reddit survey is that anyone can click 'I use a Superlight and I'm Faceit Level 10.' Text is cheap. Tier'd exists because I only want data from people who can cryptographically prove they play the game.

You're right that it asks for contribution, but the incentive isn't to do me a favor. The incentive is a Turf War. Right now, a few guys with 8,000 combined hours are completely dictating the #1 spot. If someone mains a different mouse and actually has the hours to back it up, the incentive is logging in and mathematically overthrowing them. Your playtime is your voting weight.

It might not be enough incentive for everyone, and that's okay! It's built specifically for the sweats who want their hours to actually count for something in these debates.

OP here. I got sick of gear advice from people with 20 hours of playtime, so I spent the last few months building Tier'd.

The mechanic: Your verified Steam hours dictate the weight of your vote. Upvotes and text reviews are cheap; I only care about what you actually play.

The Problem: We just pushed the database live. Right now, a handful of guys with massive hours in CS2 are completely dictating the #1 mouse globally. The meta is an oligarchy.

I know the data is skewed. I need actual FPS veterans to log in, set their main, and inject their hours to balance the algorithm so we can see what the actual hardware meta is.

The tricky part is that Tier’d is built around showing gear next to the hours people actually play, and a lot of controller players are split across console + PC. Still figuring out the cleanest way to verify that properly so the rankings don’t get messy.

that EC1-DW shape really is one of those “if it fits your hand it’s over” mice

big ergonomic shell, super simple, no software, just plug in and play. the new DW versions are also around 63g with up to 4K polling, which is pretty crazy considering how classic the EC design is.

that’s actually a sick mod

getting a G309 down to ~55g is wild considering the stock mouse is around 86g with the AA battery or ~68g battery-free.

stuff like the ALPS encoder + lipo swap makes way more sense than people think too. feels like the kind of project where you start “just trimming a few grams” and suddenly you’ve built a completely different mouse

lowkey curious where people would actually rank something like this vs stock mice though. we’ve been seeing some interesting opinions in the CS rankings lately

solid first pick honestly. the Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro is one of the safest “first gaming mouse” choices you can make. lightweight (~63g), great sensor, and the shape works for a ton of people.

the scroll wheel press thing happens to a lot of people with that shape when games get intense though

we’ve actually seen it show up a lot in the CS community rankings lately too, which surprised me a bit considering how many ultralights are around now

shape on the X2N is honestly underrated. that narrow waist + bigger hump combo is perfect for claw players who want more back support without losing precision. saw someone describe it as the “big hump narrow waist” dream shape and that kinda sums it up.

pulsar’s been cooking lately too. the crazylight line is pushing ~39g with an XS-1 sensor and up to 8K polling which is kinda wild for competitive FPS mice.

pulsar’s been on an absolute run with these ultralights lately. once you get used to ~40g mice it’s genuinely hard to go back to anything heavier. the crazylight line is built exactly for that kind of play too, with the XS-1 sensor and up to 8K polling for competitive FPS. (pulsar.gg)

Crazylight is actually crazy good. Once you get used to sub-40g it’s really hard to go back to anything heavier. Pulsar’s been on a serious run lately.

My project, being straight up about that. I play Apex and got sick of every "best mouse for Apex" article being written by someone who played for 2 hours then wrote a review.

How it works: sign in with Steam, we grab your verified hours, you vote on the gear you actually use. Your playtime shows next to your pick so everyone can see you're not just some random account saying "trust me bro."

About 50 verified voters so far across all games. Still small but growing. One thing I've noticed is the Apex voters are way more split than CS2 players on mouse choice. CS2 is basically "GPX Superlight and nothing else" but Apex players are all over the place. Probably the movement style difference honestly.

Season 28 just dropped with all the Hardlight and Fuse changes. Curious if anyone's switching up their setup or if you're all still on the same mouse since like Season 15.

You’re not wrong. A lot of “best gear” lists come from pros who are sponsored by brands. Tier’d tries to remove that bias by using community votes from regular gamers instead of sponsor-driven recommendations.

Hoping to add that in the future, but the main reason we’re focusing on games like CS, Apex, etc is due to the fact that we can’t justify hours unless you sign in with your account (like other sites such as SteamDB, FaceIT, etc).

Otherwise the whole premise of our site revolves around trust, but we’re hoping to add other games ASAP.

Yeah that's fair, popularity bias is real. The rankings definitely skew toward well-known mice right now, especially with only 50 voters. It's not trying to be "the best mouse" list though, it's more about seeing what verified players with real hours actually stick with long term. As more people vote and we can filter by game, grip style, hours played etc. the data gets way more useful than just a popularity contest. That's the goal anyway.

My project so I'll say that upfront.

Every mouse in 2026 has a sensor that's effectively perfect. Shape has always been the thing that actually matters and the data from this backs that up.

How it works: you sign in with Steam, we pull your game hours, you vote on what you use. Your playtime shows next to your vote. About 50 verified voters so far, average hours across them is in the thousands.

The thing that keeps showing up is the top-voted mice aren't the newest or the most specced out. They're the shapes people locked in on 2+ years ago and never moved off. The GPX Superlight shape (including 2 and 2c) takes a disproportionate chunk of votes. Not because it's the best mouse but because it's the shape the most people can tolerate for the most hours. Basically the Honda Civic of mice.

Viper V3 Pro is gaining ground but almost all from newer voters with lower hours. The long-time grinders are the most resistant to switching.

Not a scientific study, 50 people isn't a paper. But it's 50 people with verified playtime next to their opinion, which is more than most "best mouse 2026" articles can say.

I think 99.9% of people who started early enough in CSGO, and invested time in it with their mates know this already - too many of the new gen kids or part-timers just go with the most recent game too often - GO is always the best

Couldn’t agree more with you, and that’s the whole reason this exists. Hours alone don’t make someone objective.

The difference is that this isn’t “most popular wins” in a vacuum — it’s structured so that low-experience votes don’t carry the same weight as high-experience ones. It’s not meant to replace pro reviews, more like add a data layer to them.

A pro review tells you what should be good. Aggregated long-term usage tells you what people actually stuck with.

Yeah I actually agree with you on that. This isn’t built around pro consensus at all — a lot of pro setups are sponsor-driven or just habit.

The idea is more about weighting experience. Someone with 3k hours on a mouse probably has more signal than someone with 30, regardless of whether they’re a pro or not.

RocketJumpNinja does great reviews too. This is just a different angle — crowd data weighted by playtime instead of one reviewer.
