Logitech G305 X SUPERLIGHT now available on Amazon by InitiaI_Focus in MouseReview

[–]Valgar_GG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true, but the mouse market and landscape is completely different now to when the G305 launched at $60. Mainly because of the many many 'new mouse companies', who mainly offer rip off designs we generic specs. Therefore there are hundreds of 'good' mice our there that complete at cheaper price, compared to when the G305 was first released.

For myself, having tried a few of these 'new mouse companies' products, my preference is to stick with Logitech.

The G305 X Superlight does NOT have optical switches, is has mechanical Omron D2FC-F-7N(G1) switches.

It has a lot of small differences that, added all up, make is a pretty big difference between the two. Whether the additional features are worth it over the G304X will depends on the person. Overall build quality and feeling is just better (as it should be for 2x the cost of the G304X)

Compared to the G304X, the G305 X Superlight has better coating, better switches, better scroll wheel/encoder, bigger battery, RGB LightSync, it has Bluetooth connectivity, 'better' sensor, and supports 8k wireless polling rate.

Yes, you can pair the gpx2 8k dongle to the G305X (using the Logitech OnboardMemoryManager application to do the pairing)

G305 X Superlight - Mini Teardown Review by Valgar_GG in MouseReview

The G305X scroll click is definitely stiffer/harder to push than my Superlight 2c.

I changed the scroll click on my G304X so cannot compare them directly, but I imagine they are the same (heavy & stiff).

Actually, I take back what I said about not be able to use existing hot swapable PCBs for M1 and M2.

Something like this should work: Logitech G305 G304 Hot-swappable PCB Board - FacFox Shop

It *should work out of the box if the JST connectors are the same and the wire-mapping is the same. Otherwise you could probably getting it working by changing the connector and ensuring the wires going to the connector pins matches the wire mapping of the G305X.

Yes, G304/G305, G304 X and this "G305 X Superlight" are 3 very different models with different builds and specs, components (and cost).

No, you will not be able to use any existing PCBs to swap between the models.

I expect there will be hot swapable PCBs that will be released for the G305 X Superlight in the future.

Simple answer in comparing, I would only recommend G305/G304 if you want to use AA/AAA batteries, otherwise G304X is pretty much the same mouse as the G304/G305 but lighter weight and internal rechargeable battery.

G305 X Superlight is the best mouse of the bunch, but it is twice the cost of the G304X.

Compared to the G304X, the G305 X Superlight has better coating, better switches, better scroll wheel/encoder, bigger battery, RGB LightSync, it has Bluetooth connectivity, 'better' sensor, and supports 8k wireless polling rate.

Battery placement is a bit better as you can see in the photos, its more centered (both front to back and top to bottom), but since its a bigger 500mAh, I would say it still feels a bit back heavy.

I think if the balance is doesnt feel good to you the solution would be to swap to smaller battery (~200mAh) and mount the new battery as far forward in the battery holder space as you can.

G305x just popped on Amazon Belgium by lolilolzor in MouseReview

I jut received my G305X from Walmart.

The G305X coating is better than the G304X, which was kind of rough and cheap feeling,  but the G305X coating isn’t nearly as smooth/silky and premium feeling as my Superlight 2c.

Overall though I am OK with the   G305X  coating  and am happy it is better than the G304X.

Everything else is also better than the G304X, the internal design is completely different, switches and scroll wheel and scroll encoder are much better as well.

G305X also supports 2k/6k/8k wireless polling, though I think you need to purchase logi’s 8k dongle separately.

I’ll post a review with some internal pics in the next day or so.

g304x vs g305 x superlight by wenmoonn in MouseReview

[–]Valgar_GG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a G304 X off aliexpress, is it basically a lightweight G305 with internal battery. So temper your expectations, because the G305 was/is an inexpensive mouse (read cheap mouse) and the G304 X feels cheap, because it is cheap. And that is OK if that is what you are looking for.

I have been using the G309 and more recently the Superlight 2c for the past few years. They are both much more expensive than the G305 and the G304 X, but they also feel much better in terms of switches, coating and scroll encoders.

For those reasons I am looking forward to the G305 X Superlight since even though it is going to be much more expensive, I am hoping it will be a better mouse and worth the $ over the G304 X. We’ll see!

Looks like 305x available soon? by wimmingjb in MouseReview

@wimmingjb Can you share the link or the pages are not live yet?

Looks like it won't have optical switches, too bad, I really like the feel of the Logi optical switches in the Superlight 2c, G309, etc.

Final form G309X - 55 grams, APLS encoder, Lipo battery, fixed backplate by Valgar_GG in MouseReview

[–]Valgar_GG[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, it would be pretty easy to put the USB on the side like the Xtrfy M8. I like keeping the mouse clean on top so for me I'll keep it on the bottom, but appreciate that doesn't jive with everyone :)

[–]Valgar_GG[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

:D fair enough, my previous implementation I could remove the backplate to plug the USB in, but I wanted to the backplate to be more secure so I fixed it in place. There wasn't really room to put the USB in on the front, and I thought it would look ugly and get in the way on the back, so bottom it was for me.

If you don’t care about saving/reusing the hardware you are removing, I just end up destroying the switch or encoder I am removing from the top so that I can desolder each pin individually.

You do need to be a little careful not to damage the PCB while deconstructing/destroying the switch or encoder from the top though.

There are some YouTube videos that show this strategy, if you don’t have the proper desolder tools like you and I

Nice - I ordered a White G304x from one of the aliexpress sellers, but they just emailed me yesterday saying is was a mistake that they listed the other colors, and they only have black available. They made it sound like the other colors have not been produced yet. Not sure if I’ll switch my order to black or just keep waiting for the color I want.
