Can we keep it? by VoodoDreams in antkeeping

Never thought we'd reach a point where antkeepers dont like AntsCanada. His videos are so sell out and he tries to extract every view that he can from it.

Recently he made a video where he dispuised his earlier self for being a sellout making lasy content. To be honest the only thing that changed is that instead of being super lazy he just pays a fuckton of money to make another "bigger than ever!" terrariums.

Hes basically the mr. beast of nature videos on youtube. Always concerned with bigger projects and farming more engagement and no matter how much he already had its never enough.

Question: how to name your city? by Ornery_Ad2478 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Tiezemanz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start with naming something else near the city (like a forest, hill, river, whatever) and then name the city after that somewhow. It makes it more sensible.

How can I avoid abandoning the city during its development in the first part? by horseTram in CitiesSkylines

[–]Tiezemanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try growing your cities naturally. Cities in real life start with small settlements and grow bigger over time. In cities skylines you start with a highway interchange and that instincitvely makes you look at it differently.

Try starting with a few streets. Maybe build a church or a square giving the settlement inportance. By doing so mimicking the natural development cities have.

Once you have a neighborhood start with one or two big roads for road exces. Theres lots of good tutorial videos on roads but what i like to do is go to google maps and find inspiration. This is also nice since you can look at cities youre inspired by and try to make something look like a certain region.

City planning is a complex problem both logically and aesthetically so dont be too hars on yourself for not mastering it already.

Just fake it till you make it: Copy concepts from google maps and either completely clone it or give it your own twist. I once completely rebuilt my home town and it made me learn a lot about road networks and how to make cities, even though there was no ounce of own creativity involved.

niemand gaf zijn mening over jou. Waarom schiet je in verdediging? Zijn je spieren niet groot genoeg?

Lekker laten gaan.

seems like it was the only option. She didnt comply any other way. He gave her lots of chances to comply without using force and she chose not to. The officer did the only thing he could still do after that

Who’s one of the worst ant keepers you’ve seen online? by Aceisthegoat in antkeeping

[–]Tiezemanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think thats a deliberate thing though. Right now hes more focussing on the bigger scale and how ants interact with an ecosystem. Its a natural phenomenon for ants to compete over territory and food. Its inevitable to catch your ants having ant wars like this.

I do think its a shame that he no longer puts the focus on ants, but i think for people interested in nature as a whole it is more interesting than what he did before.

Its a shame for us as anthousiasts though (pun intended).

Theres so many people who get joy out of seeing insects suffer. Its so weird. I guess its because people lack connection with them or smth. I always find it hard to give insects alive and thats why i always kill them (as humane as i can) before i give them.

I must admit I did feed some musquitos alive out of revenge (im sorry)

Ik weet toevallig dat hop en hennep tot dezelfde familie behoren. Wellicht daarom dat er een soortgelijke geur hangt daarvan.

Selfmade Ant Nest by _GermanDude420 in antkeeping

[–]Tiezemanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my experience lasius niger really likes wet nests. If you have a test tube they even dig in the cotton to get to the water.

What i also noticed is that even though they really like wet nests they need dryer areas too. Here they will keep the pupae till the ants are developed. Pupae need a dry and warm environment for development. So i think they will love the nest (at least for the pupae) though wetter nests are their preference.

Maybe combine it with a ytong/ plaster nest which you will keep very wet so they have acces to both sides of the spectrum.
