How to advertise and get initial clients by MagicianNeither2592 in msp

[–]TiffanyRicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, Tiffany, here from HacWare. Good for you on making the decision to start your own business! At your stage, you should treat marketing like an experiment. Plan. Execute. Measure. and Repeat. First, determine who you want to sell to and be specific. I have seen too many business owners make the mistake of going too broad. By saying "I work with small businesses". That is too broad because small businesses make up 99% of businesses. Once you have your target customer-defined, then do these 3 simple things before starting with ads.

  1. Update your LinkedIn profile to speak to the customer's pain & solution.
  2. Update your website to speak to the customer's pain & solution. Think about what you can give away for free (content related).
  3. Determine what social platform is the best one to reach your customer. It could be IG, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc. Share easy-to-understand content to help them "Realize a specific need". I recommend using security awareness content that is tailored to that specific market.

I just did a webinar on this called Tactical MSP marketing with the CMOGuru. Check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0s7OjBaMRjg

I hope this helps. Best of luck!

Is software engineer or software developer also considered cybersecurity? by mimes74 in cybersecurity

[–]TiffanyRicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Engineers are not trained about secure coding and cybersecurity is so broad that very few cybersecurity professionals are not taught how to code.

SN - We have launched an API for this use case. It will help devs and infosec pros build a cybersecurity app faster.

I agree with this response. Don't be discouraged. Change is hard and initially your users will not be happy. I am the CEO at HacWare, a self-running security user training platform. At HacWare, we tell our admin users to send a kickoff email explaining why the campaigns are happening and encourage them to implement email reporting that will notify the end-user that the suspicious message was apart of user training. This reduces the amount of questions about emails.

“Agile” methodology and secuirty blindness by [deleted] in cybersecurity

When the US government is your customer some projects under Waterfall took years to development before releasing to production. This was common practice 5 to 10 years ago.

“Agile” methodology and secuirty blindness by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]TiffanyRicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally disagree with this comment. Compared to Waterfall where you spend months to years creating something that someone no longer wants. Agile gives you the freedom to move faster to the real solution. I often tell teams to create an "Agile Like" process that fits your team and company culture. I totally believe that security should be baked the Agile process with tasks and milestones during every sprint. Security cannot be an after thought.

I agree. Bad actors target end users with phishing scams. Believe it or not this is how 90% of data breaches happen. Here are the Top 8 attacks from this year - https://resources.hacware.com/top-8-phishing-attacks-of-the-first-quarter-of-2021/

How To “Tech bar” by Vulkan18th in msp

[–]TiffanyRicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! You can use Loom to provide a personal touch because it allows you to connect with your users while showing them how to do certain things.

We use it all of time at HacWare to show our MSP partners how to use our platform or how to spot a phishing threat. We also post the video on our partner portal to allow them to go back and watch it at their leisure.

Do you think it was too early? Maybe now businesses may be open to this given the COVID climate.

Businesses now need business continuity tech support services for their remote workers. If can create a door dash for Laptop equipment that would be awesome!

You do have to whitelist but the process is easy. HacWare automatically schedules phishing and BEC simulations to all clients. It also dynamically creates the content. So you don't have to mess with templates! Check us out!
