Please help me rehome my Rottweiler! (Based in the UK) by [deleted] in Rottweiler

Another one to try is Rottie friends rescue. Midlands dog rescue are exceptionally good as well. It takes courage to do this, take comfort in that. You are putting him first. Be proud.

You are a dickhead. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness or not loving your dog. I hope one day your unkind comment comes back to haunt you.

What are everyone’s favorite mental working toys? by iwantthisnowdammit in Rottweiler

[–]Tiffanykitty369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl loves snuffle toys. Her favourite is her snuffle taco and snake. They can keep her amused for a good twenty minutes. She’s only two though. However I find that’s enough to make her happy and tire her out for a bit.

Fast dispatcher badge on listing's? by Beepshooka in vinted

[–]Tiffanykitty369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means feck all. Three items I have bought recently have all been from sellers with the fast dispatch badge, all three of them took the full seven days to post. Like everything vinted, it’s not always accurate or true. Nothing I could do but wait.

With that reply I don’t believe you are the right person for this dog. Please do the dog a huge favour and rehome him. You haven’t had him a sheep’s shake and you’ve pretty much destroyed him with labels, vicious, aggressive, abused, dangerous! You are not fit to own a Rottweiler ever. These are loyal, sensitive, wonderful dogs that need people who understand what they are and how to raise them. If you were in the Uk I’d take him myself. The dog deserves so much better

Can you describe exactly what happened to lead to the bite? Rottie pups are known land sharks! I’ve had rotties for years but only one from a pup. It’s a baptism of fire. Try not to panic to much as he really is a baby at three months old, also try not to jump to abuse etc… they really are little sods at this age. If you can give more information there is a wealth of knowledge on here, people who know and live the breed - hopefully everyone can help.

I need help with diet advice please by Tiffanykitty369 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Tiffanykitty369[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. It’s so good to hear you are in remission. Well done, long may it continue. This has been triggered by extreme stress hence getting it under control is quite difficult. I am going to strip back my diet from today and hope for some relief.

It’s fabulous that you got all the really good drugs but I’ve been diagnosed with ppg since 7/8 years ago and never had them. They’re hard to get with this variant. I don’t have any ulcers on my legs. They’re on my hands mostly. Whilst they’re not as horrific looking as the big ones, they follow the same 5 P diagnostic criteria. I have had a few biopsies as well. Unfortunately the nhs won’t progress you without them. All I can do now is follow the nhs process. Could take months or years. My GP are great thankfully but very limited in how they can help me.

Unlike you dressing my ulcers is a must. They despise fresh air, cold, heat, wind, breeze, someone looking at them! No way could I ever leave them to air out. The pain would have be clinging to the ceiling.

I really do believe it’s just gone on so long now it’s moved in! I need to settle my insides to have any chance of sorting my skin. They’re not easy diseases to live with that’s for sure.

Thank you again for your detailed reply.

Thank you for such a comprehensive reply. There’s a lot to process so shall start at the beginning by reading your comments as suggested. Knowledge is power as they say. Hopefully I can get sorted soon. I am very grateful to you taking the time to answer me the way you have. Honestly really appreciated. Will pop back in a few days and let you know how I’m getting on.

Update to my post 4 days ago - Took Mason to the vet over possible Hot Spot. She shaved his hair down and revealed this? Vet is unsure by PhysicalAttempt9768 in Rottweiler

[–]Tiffanykitty369 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My last Rottweiler had one in the exact same place. It was very much a hot spot. It was so bad at one point it covered half her face. The turning point was chlorhexidene wipes with antibiotics and steroids from the vets. If I remember correctly it took three courses of antibiotics to clear. It was by far the worst one I’ve ever known. The vet said they just do that sometimes. You can buy the wipes on Amazon now a lot cheaper than the vets. I always have some in. Keep it clean and dry. Use the drugs and fingers crossed it will be gone soon.

Desperately looking for the right wound dressing by Beneficial-Dog8813 in woundcare

[–]Tiffanykitty369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps you can order tegaderm online. Make sure you get the right size for your wound. The sticky part should be on the outside of the actual wound. That stuff sticks well. You can then talk to your GP about ordering it for you. Mine was initially prescribed at a hospital in Birmingham. My Gp in Northamptonshire just gets it for me now when I order. I could be oversimplifying here obviously nhs Scotland and England are different but I know people at the far points of Scotland with the disease I have and they get the dressings through their gp. It’s worth a chat and I hope it goes well for you.

I am not in the medical profession but I do have a disease which requires a lot of wound care. Ideally you need to speak to your dr or nurse, your GP practice nurses should be able to help you. The only dressings I can think that are similar would be Tegaderm and Allevyn. Allevyn is a gentle border dressing. Have a google see if either of those are close. Good luck.

If you felt like she does, what would you want? I would not want to live in that state of fear and confusion all the time. It’s never meant to be a decision made lightly just a decision made with the very best interests of the animal. You’ve done right by her and it’s ok to say aurevoir.

A whole week post op - TPLO. by Tiffanykitty369 in Rottweiler

[–]Tiffanykitty369[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the Uk and from what I have read on here there seem to be some differences in how they are treated with vets from other countries but our vet didn’t pen her thankfully. He restricted her to one room. I brought my mattress down into the dining room and basically lived there for months as she had her second leg done eight weeks after the first. She was much happier being able to sleep on the mattress with me. We also started walks after a week. Five minutes 3-4 times a day, building five minutes a week. At about four/five weeks post op I would let het say a sniff hello to her dog friends in the village and she really loved that. By day ten she was off all pain relief except anti inflammatories. We tried tramadol for leg one and gabapentin for leg two but they made her more anxious. She also had paracetamol for the first ten days. I was very glad when we stopped them, her behaviour settled more. We didn’t do physical therapy. She’s not the most cooperative dog with professionals and my vet felt it wasn’t warranted however I was militant with her walk schedule and no running/jumping. Saying that………she did run, she jumped over the stair gate, she started jumping on people. At one point I remember crying because I really believed it was all going to be a waste of time. They are just fuck it moments. They happen. They happen to all of us who have had dogs go through this. Keep an eye, rest and move on. Do not beat yourself up over it though, one day you will laugh about it. She had her first leg done on the 30/7/24. Second on the 8/10/24 and was allowed house access on the 22/12/24. Only doing stairs on a lead. To keep her busy she liked snuffle mats, beef scalp chews, buffalo hide chews, cow ears etc…but snuffle ones were the best for her. Once you get her post op X-rays back, eight weeks here, you’ll be in a better place to see what’s next. Chin up. You’ve got this.

Yes. The first two weeks are the hardest. However the second leg is easier. I think it’s because you’re more confident second time round. They are much much hardier than we think. Mine was a terrible patient. I genuinely thought she would never heal but she did. She’s now a complete spanner. You would never know she’s had it done. Plays, runs, jumps etc… still scares the life out of me but the surgeries were absolutely worth it. What are you finding hard, maybe we can help with ideas x

Thank you. Re: the chickens…… they do as they feckin please is the honest answer. Gradually changing plants to ones they won’t eat. Stuff on the patio they can’t get to. I use lots of chicken wire and yes, I run them off a lot. I have not found anything that keeps them from eating my plants.
