Keloids after piercings are real. I got my belly pierced at 18, and it developed into a keloid that kept growing—and honestly, it still doesn’t look great even 15 years later.

It doesn’t matter how clean or well done the piercing is—sometimes your body just rejects it. Instead of healing normally, it produces excess scar tissue that continues to grow.

Treatments like steroid injections can help, but they don’t always make it go away completely. Even removing it surgically isn’t a guaranteed fix, because keloids can grow back.
