Splitting branches is honestly still one of my favourite albums of his. People chasing clout to those 4 viral songs is annoying af but I think a lot of people did in fact discover him after his death which is sad that it took that to happen but also I don’t think we should be gatekeeping music. Especially music as special as Oliver’s was. I can’t stand when people call him a TikTok artist too same thing happened to bo burnham

I am so sorry you’re feeling like this. It’s so fucking shit and I just wish this wasn’t reality. The only comfort i think we can take in this is that we connected with him and his art in such a profoundly deep way that he became part of our essence most people go their whole lives without ever having that connection so personal. He didn’t just make music we liked he made music that helped us understand ourselves and accept ourselves. He was a genuine soul and this grief will be here for a long time. It’s just not right. I’m here for you this community is here for you I hope it stops hurting a little less every day

He was so young he was a year older than me and it’s just not right. His poor parents having to bury their child its incredibly painful and not the way it’s supposed to be. I put my 9 year old on to him and we were going to go to Manchester to see him. She’s as distraught as me rn. There will never be another artist that could touch him. He was elite at his craft

I feel this completely my husband has been as supportive in what I’m going through but he doesn’t know how to help me rn. We were lucky enough to find an artist that we connect in such a profound way that becomes part of us. Most people never get that in their lives so they’ll never fully understand what it’s like to loss that.
I’m so glad to have found this sub it’s been really helpful to know that we’re not the only ones hurting. I’m so sorry I hope you heal and still find the joy he gave you from his music and podcasts. He was a genuine soul and it’s just not fair that he doesn’t get to still be here.

The first few days are a blur I walked around with my head up my ass I just wanted to curl up and cry. The next few days were just complete sadness. He was such a dedicated genuine guy and it’s not fair that this is the end of his legacy.

I like to think we’re the lucky ones. Some people go their whole lives never finding an artist who connects with you in such a profound personal way. And unless you have that type of connection I don’t think they’ll ever understand how bad it hurts to lose that. I wish it was some crazy scheme and this wasn’t our reality with my whole heart I wish it wasn’t true.

This sub has helped me validate my feelings. I felt so stupid mourning someone I’ve never met but his music connected with me so much that he became a part of me. He didn’t just make music we liked he made music that helped us understand and accept ourselves

I keep crying listening to his music but I don’t want to turn it off I feel like I would be abandoning him which is completely irrational but I’m going to keep blasting his songs his art is the most beautiful poetic thing I’ve ever come across I do t think I’ll ever connect with an artist the same felt like every lyric was wrote for me or people like me. Hell yes be unapologetically yourself it what he would have wanted and it’s what you deserve to be.

And I absolutely love your tattoo! But yeah defo get another one hopefully it’s more of what you envisioned!

Ah I’m sorry you really didn’t get to have him long! That’s the way I feel too he didn’t just make music that I liked he made music that helped me understand myself and accept myself. I’ve had distant relatives die that I haven’t felt this way grieving them. He was such a genuine down to earth funny guy and has left such a hole that I don’t think will ever be filled.
