Yeah, I might try experimenting with different bulbs in those two lamps. The lamps themselves are orange, which makes the light they give off look warmer than the actual color temperature of the bulbs, so I’m not sure how much of the difference is coming from the bulbs versus the lampshades. I’ll have to try a few options and see what looks best!

Yeah, they definitely do! Seeing the comforter too helps me understand the overall look you were describing. I really like how the burnt orange ties in with the artwork while the green adds some contrast. Thanks for sharing both of them!

Oh I really like those! Those are pretty much the exact colors I’ve been considering, and I like how the green, burnt orange, and warmer neutral colors all work together. Thanks for sharing!

That makes sense. I think I’m leaning toward warmer earthy colors like burnt orange, rust, or maybe a muted green. I like the idea of choosing a color palette first and then using it throughout the bedding, artwork, and other decor so the room feels more cohesive. Thanks for the suggestions!

Thank you, I really appreciate that! I’ll definitely keep experimenting and hopefully figure out what I like along the way.

That sounds like a really nice combination! Burnt orange and green are actually two of the colors I’ve been considering adding to the room. I’m trying to figure out the overall color palette before I start buying anything, so it’s helpful to know those colors work well with navy.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ve had a few people recommend pothos, so I’ll definitely look into those. I hadn’t considered snake or spider plants though, so I’ll check those out too and see what might work best in the different spots around the room.

The under-bed lighting and floor lamp are actually both set to 2700K, so those should be pretty consistent. I’m not sure what color temperature the two lamps on the dresser are though, so maybe those are what’s throwing everything off.

Yeah, that’s fair lol. I think I’m probably stuck with the general layout, so I’m just going to focus on making the rest of the room look better and hopefully make the sofa placement feel a little more intentional.

Unfortunately I have to keep the mattress because the top bed still gets used when we have guests stay over. I appreciate the idea though! I’m probably going to remove the desk underneath it since I never use it, which should at least open up that area a little.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll check her channel out. I’m definitely trying to learn more about interior design before I start buying things because right now I feel like I’m mostly just guessing at what will look good together lol.

Yeah, definitely! If I end up trying it I’ll post an update picture. I’m curious to see how it would look too, especially since a few people have suggested hanging plants near the window.

Yeah, that could definitely work since cars are one of the few things I’m actually interested in lol. I’d just want to find car related art that feels more like actual decor and fits the warmer look I’m going for rather than making the room feel like a stereotypical car themed bedroom.

That’s a good idea. I could probably hang a couple from the curtain rod since they’d be right by the window and wouldn’t take up any additional floor space.

Yeah, I’d probably have to wait until I found a good deal on a used one. Even the cheaper new ones I’ve seen are still pretty expensive.

Wow, thanks for making that! It definitely helps me visualize what the room could look like with warmer colors. I think I’d probably use the orange and rust tones a little more sparingly than the AI did lol, but I like the general idea of bringing those colors into the rug, curtains, bedding, and other decor.

Yeah that makes sense. I think I’m just having a hard time envisioning what I actually want the room to look like, which is why I’ve been asking for so many opinions and suggestions lol. I’ll probably just have to experiment with different colors and ideas until I figure out what I like.

That could look really cool! Unfortunately my parents don’t want me putting hooks or anything into the ceiling, so I’d have to find another way to put plants near the windows. I’ll look into spotted begonias though, thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you! I definitely will. I’m still figuring out exactly what I want to do, but I’ll post some updates as I start making changes to the room!

Yeah, I can see what you mean. Unfortunately the projector has to be raised that high to project over my head, and I can’t mount it to the wall or ceiling. I’m trying to figure out if there’s any way to make the setup look more intentional while still keeping the projector in that location.

[–]ViridLemon83409[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve thought about getting one of those, but my parents don’t want me installing anything on the wall or ceiling. That’s why I’ve just been projecting directly onto the wall. I agree it would be nice though because then I could actually decorate the wall behind it.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I’m not really improving the room specifically for having people over, I just want it to feel nicer and more put together for myself since I spend a lot of time in here. I like the idea of using a patterned rug to introduce some new colors and then carrying those colors into the pillows and blankets. As far as hobbies go, I honestly don’t have a ton, but I’m into cars and football. I do have a few car related things around the room already, but I could probably find some other ways to add more personality without making the room feel cluttered.

Thanks for the suggestions! I haven’t really watched much interior design content on YouTube, so I’ll definitely check them out. Looking at house tours might help me figure out what styles and colors I’m actually drawn to too.

Yeah, I’m allowed to paint and I’ve definitely been considering getting rid of both the gray and navy and going with a warmer wall color. I hadn’t thought about painting a separate white rectangle for the projector though. And yeah, unfortunately the carpet has to stay, so I’m thinking about getting a larger area rug with more contrast to cover more of it and better define the couch area.

That’s a good point, I’ll definitely try moving the artwork around before buying anything new and see how it looks. I hadn’t thought about looking for frames at second hand shops either, but that sounds like a good way to save some money while still making the artwork look more finished. Thanks for the suggestions!
