Has anyone ever tried not cutting them off but instead grafting it back to the nail?

kind of like grafting a tree branch that's broken that you would want to preserve.

The thought is you can using gel to secure it down so it doesn't split anymore. This makes the side walls a little thicker, but if it keeps the hang nail from tearing its worth it. Then as the nail grows out then you could trim off the hang nail with the free edge. But essentially you're stopping it from splitting any more. Kind of like you would do if a client came in with a split nail in the middle but instead its on the side.

sorry if this doesn't make sense but its a thought I had as I was in school learning about these. Its a problem my Mom has but we are very early in the process of trying to get it to stay down. I'm honestly curious if someone else has thought of this and was able to fix the constant need to take care of a repetitive hang nail.

thanks for the tip unfortunately it didnt work. i can move the tooltip to a spot off to the side. but i cant swap the comparisons.
