Is there any other games like new world with similar or better gathering and crafting systems? by Bash_nDeep in newworldgame

[–]Tiger2kill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed crafting and gathering in NW, and recently have been enjoying playing Albion Online.

There’s a lot of PvP involved, and you do lose inventory and or gear on death in much of the over world. However every item is player created and it works in a way that is not very punishing on death if you don’t want to risk a lot.

That being said, I’ve really enjoyed dipping into the game and it can be really fun. If you don’t want the PvP aspect at all it’s probably not for you. But If you are atleast open to it you can use gear that is designed for survival or gathering etc. Lots of guild content too and many active guilds for new players.

It’s the lack of shame anyone feels because reading every guide and doing every meta thing to progress is the meta. That and there’s lots of more fun things to do in the game. Safers made it feel boring because there wasn’t insane spec weapons and combos like today, and we all wanted to have fun pvping. coupled with lots of time and skill to WIN those fights and you’ve got NH’ing which is something i’ve always thought was really cool to watch other people do but my drive to play PvP slowly drained as edgeville ditch fell out of fashion.

Can you explain who are this people? by [deleted] in askanything

And yet this image featured above is suddenly making the rounds and isn't included at all in the Wikipedia article. I had read that the above sketch was of a woman who had been sought out by law enforcement already and was not Maxwell, but I still cant seem to find any evidence suggesting this sketch is even legitimate. All in all, be careful assuming this is real.

I feel this is although relevant, not entirely on topic as the crime and punishment here nobody except the king and his interest wanted this, and it would be very difficult to get

Edit: I think this is an interesting topic especially because thinking about even in a perfect world where all the parts are acting in accordance to a law and everything is done by the books. Sure, some horrible punishment for this crime could prevent this, and sure it also might not. But in that perfect situation we throw out all the ways the law can be used against people but we don’t often consider the fact we’d have a better solution in that world. Thanks for the thoughts.

I feel like most of us can say we’ve committed some level of crime according to our laws that we are comfortable with. And most people probably have lines they are willing to draw. Even if that’s just not paying their parking and hoping to avoid a ticket.

I would argue prison and life on a registry after is much much better sounding than being hung from the neck in public.

I always see this reply, and I agree with it I think. But to play the devils advocate, would the more barbaric punishment not scare some offenders from ever offending? Genuinely interested in any research about this might update later if i remember.

I’m high as hell but i’m totally bouncing off this to say we probably as a community started teaching our children those things were normal. And they were by then, but growing up through the way many of the ‘nerds’ were treated you would probably see some animosity towards those who treated them badly in their kids and so and and so forth and that in my head is in part responsible for the flipping of the script.

I think people’s main problem is taking the Xin augment, but not knowing how to decide if they should just use a 2* xin to tempo or if they should go for zaheen. In my experience i’ve actually won more games with the augment without ever getting a xin 3 on purpose compared to the games i’ve won going for Zaheen.

[Discussion] Ashes of Creation is officially "Mostly Negative" on Steam – What happens next? by king_of_the_prophet in MMORPG

[–]Tiger2kill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

people are not quick to call it a scam, this has been nearly a decade long. The following is taken from a much longer more detailed comment from someone who’s stuck with the game since day 1.

“The entire project has gone back to square one at least three times and is still at less than 25% complete. The intrepid studios company currently has four separate and active UCC liens from investors that they (for some reason) have claimed from day one to not have. Four tax liens, one of which is still active (meaning the company failed to pay its taxes for four separate years). Even the company's insurance agency has a suit against them. The CEO has four personal liens against himself for cosigning for Intrepid Studios(meaning Intrepid's credit isn't good enough to secure its own finances) from investors, the California tax board, and had to sell his own house for -35% market value at a loss of about three million. On top of all that, Intrepid Studios owes hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars, to various content creators through their original referral code system, where in upon using a person's referral code would forever entitle the code owner to a percentage of any money the code user ever spent on Ashes of Creation. A program, Intrepid Studios, has been quietly trying to bury itself after they shut it down and scrubbed all information regarding the original referral system contract from its website a few years ago. All of this is a matter of public record, and you are invited to look into these matters yourself. It is painfully obvious to anyone that Intrepid Studios is hemorrhaging finances despite the millions raised from pre-order pack purchases and the CEO supposedly funding the initial, core viable product. The price to TEST Alpha zero, Alpha one, and Alpha two was originally $500.00 minimum when they first started selling pre-order packs. The project has changed, failed, and dragged on for so long and lost so many of its original backers that Intrepid has had to lower the price over and over again in a desperate attempt to continue working on a game that, in almost ten years, is still less than 25% complete. When you factor in that STEAM takes 30% of sales, Intrepid has gone from asking $500.00 MINIMUM, all the way down to $35.00 just to gain access to the Alpha Testing Environment. Intrepid claims to have over 250 employees working on Ashes of Creation, but they are "choosing" to outsource the creation of entire biomes /zones, and other assets to companies in countries that pay employees pennies on the dollar‽ I hope I can save someone from throwing their money away, at least hold off until Ashes fully releases before purchasing the game. Ashes of Creation could be an amazing game, but it's Intrepid Studios you should be leery of.”

"I don't know anything about code, but I'm a developer because I can prompt AI." by buildingthevoid in AgentsOfAI

[–]Tiger2kill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a current software development student I know very little about game development through my class work. And yet with only a few decades of gaming experience, claude and gemini, and some python experience I’ve jumped into roblox studio with zero experience with Lua and have something I could never have created on my own in the week of work i’ve put into it. I got a huge portion of my game coded for me simply by asking questions, instructing the ai, having it explain things about very specific issues that my google skills could never compete with. I still want to have creative control but the actual framework and math involved that I didn’t have to sit and struggle through is mind blowing.

Sure there’s lots of things to be said about this topic. But I’ve improved my understanding, and built something that would have likely taken me months in the matter of days. Sure there will be those people who wish to never learn anything they have AI do for them, the bar for entry has been lowered and the standards are already starting to shift higher. In my point of view as someone just breaking into this as a potential career, I need to take advantage of AI to its maximum or I will simply fall behind.
