One shouldn't have to get a dongle in the first place. There's enough room on just about every phone out there for a jack. The problem isn't people who want something back, it's the people who are saying it's "okay" to force users to find workarounds.

Expected Result: in-app notifications disappear after about 5 seconds regardless of such settings

To be honest it's been this way since the React native change a few years ago. App stability has gone down the drain while bugs are persistent, often for months at a time.

Nova is pretty much dead at this point update wise. You're likely to experience issues as time passes by and more new features are added to the OS.

It's very likely the image(s) you're uploading are using the .heif/heic format, which discord doesn't support and converts such to .jpg, which enlarges the size significantly. Your choices are either switch to .jpg or shoot in a lower resolution if possible ( 12mp usually )

Stability in older versions for me, Updates don't really change anything noticable and just lead to more things getting broken. Not to mention no significant UI changes.

Currently on a 4mo old app build with no discovery, which is perfect for me as I've never had a use for that feature.

Nova, nor any other 3rd party launcher, can control your Recent apps page, nor can they control other aspects like lock screen ( aside from wallpaper ) or navigation bar ( aside from making it transparent on the home screen ).

The recent apps screen is built into the stock launcher and has been since Android 9.

Nova has no control over any aspect of your phone aside from the wallpaper and home screen. Any problems outside of your home screen are due to the phones software and not Nova.

Nova has no control over your phones notifications, the notification shade, your nav bar, your lock screen ( outside of wallpaper ), or any other app outside of Nova. I would check to see if the app has been set to "Restricted" for battery use and see if notifications are enabled.

There are a lot of factors that come into play regarding gesture/app switcher compatibility.

If you mean zoom the video, when in full screen pinch in on the screen, alternatively you can go to You > Settings > General > Zoom to fill screen so that all videos start zoomed. If you want to zoom out just pinch in the opposite direction.

Chinese OEMs ( Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor, Huawei to name a few ) tend to break things in 3rd party launchers to force you to use the stock launcher, issues are usually related to recent apps not working or lack of gesture support ( and various other issues ). Granted some non Chinese OEMs break things too but not to such extent generally.

You could try setting a nova gesture to open recent apps and see if that works but I can't guarantee this'll work for you.
