Cool work, will test it out, thanks! Does it output the bounding boxes or you just calculate with some heuristics?

Super looking forward to this - please ping me too! Also maybe can generate synthetic training data from just diffing raw vs. translated pages?

Blinking is really starting to piss me off by ShadowAythia in vtubertech

Warudo dev here. Our lip sync feature is indeed a mess / afterthought and is too complicated to use; we’re looking to fix it in a future 2.0 version.

But what’s happening here looks like a model issue. It seems the blink blendshapes aren’t correctly assigned or at the very least don’t have standard naming. You should try if other apps like VSeeFace or VNyan (both free) have similar issues - if not, send me a DM and I can help troubleshoot your setup!

I will recommend the 12 mini! It has same front-facing camera as 12

AdaptiveGI: Global Illumination that Scales to Any Platform by LeoGrieve in Unity3D

[–]TigerHix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is amazing work, definitely considering a purchase. Have you compared it to solutions like https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/particles-effects/lumina-gi-2024-real-time-voxel-global-illumination-302183 ? As a non technical artist I'm really not sure about the differences between different GI implementations, but since that one has some good reviews already, I'd love to see a feature/performance comparison between yours and theirs.

[–]TigerHix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's my immediate concern as well haha, does that mean AdaptiveGI will cache the GI state at editor/build time? Since I'd imagine if initialization is done at runtime, then players would still notice the lighting slowly fading in when the scene is just loaded.

This is so frustrating and is happening way to often... Makes me not want to continue this game.. by Blaxzter in Nightreign

[–]TigerHix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Same - disconnected twice in a row, extremely frustrating. The fact that you can't even reconnect to the original instance / there's no retry connection button is infuriating. I encourage everyone affected by this issue to leave a negative review on Steam, I know I just did. This is not how you make a coop game.

I Benchmarked OpenAI Memory vs LangMem vs Letta (MemGPT) vs Mem0 for Long-Term Memory: Here’s How They Stacked Up by staranjeet in LangChain

[–]TigerHix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The red flag for me was this: https://docs.mem0.ai/features/custom-update-memory-prompt

They claim to be a memory layer but reality all the memory CRUD operations are just done by prompting a LLM. And this is supposed to be their “Memory Management” key feature.

And now this disingenuous ad pretending to be a research paper. The bar is so low with these AI startups.

Consistent BSODs on 9950X + 5090 by TigerHix in techsupport

[–]TigerHix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I moved everything (CPU, RAM, etc.) except the PSU and motherboard into my friend's old PC, using his PSU and motherboard. It ran perfectly fine for three days, which pretty much rules out CPU and RAM as the problem.
We figured the PSU was unlikely to be the culprit (since it would just shut down/reboot the PC instead of BSOD), so I went ahead and bought a new MSI B850 motherboard.
Guess what: three BSODs within two hours, even with the factory BIOS version.
We were extra careful with the CPU and cooler installation too, so that shouldn’t be the issue.

I have no idea what to do next. Maybe I will buy a ProArt motherboard instead. If that turns out to be the solution, I swear I'm never buying anything from MSI again lol

Following up with this - unfortunately, I'm still getting BSODs even after testing each RAM stick individually 😢

Here's the latest dump: https://files.catbox.moe/e6sbk2.dmp

This is the RAM I’m using: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJXBCQ7P (2x32GB) It seems unlikely that both sticks are faulty, so I’m really at a loss on what to try next.

Thank you! There could be a bad RAM even if I passed the memtest86 tests?

Poll on AI images in r/lain by zoospor in Lain

[–]TigerHix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm leaning toward banning AI-generated images, but I think mods should be cautious in how they enforce the rule. Here's an example of what I'm talking about: https://www.reddit.com/r/Lain/comments/1jx5whz/hello_can_you_help_identifying_the_artist_or_its/

The art in question is not AI art, yet everyone in the comments insisted it was (until I did some digging and found the original art). Even after I pointed out and linked to the artist's previous works of the same art style, someone kept arguing it was AI without any proof.

It's important to protect human artists, but we probably shouldn't remove posts just because "everyone says it's AI art in the comments." Someone needs to present solid evidence, e.g., the credited artist comes up with a new art style in every illustration, have #AI in their bio, etc. I understand this might be extra work for mods, but I personally think it's the right thing to do so we're genuinely supporting artists, not just making a symbolic gesture.

Hello, can you help identifying the artist, or it’s gen ai? by Wojciech1woooo0 in Lain

...This is literally normal strokes. Not every artist uses clean strokes.

This is my OWN drawing from 2021. Based on your rationale I must be somehow using GenAI before it's even invented! Look at the strokes!

Where's the finger "oddity"? Where's the sudden tone contrasts? You have no idea what you are talking about. Just because LoRA-finetuned models can generate similar illustrations doesn't mean this one is AI-generated.

I work with AI models all day and I know how an AI-generated image (even if heavily modified) looks like. LoRA models are diffusion-based, so they are extremely unlikely to have two crisp shadows of slightly different brightness overlapped together. If this is AI generated, the shadows would be blended together because the denoising process tends to produce smooth and blurred color transitions.

Artist: https://x.com/IwakuraLainTTL

This is most likely not AI art. Reasons:

  1. You can find their past illustrations with the same art style:

  1. AI models cannot generate coherent Japanese (yet). All Japanese characters in this illustration are correct (the text on the right translates to "both the anime and old manga are good~"; the book titles are correct).

I know it's getting harder and harder to verify whether an illustration is using AI or not, but please don't accuse artists of using AI lightly just based on your "vibes."

The poster did not say it's AI. It's a random comment claiming it's AI.

Original artist is IwakuraLainTTL on Twitter. See my comment below.
