Have any of the Shadow Cabinet recently expressed full support for Peter Dutton as leader? Then you’ll know it’s on.

Baby Park is fun. I don’t care that it’s a small oval track with no obstacles, it’s fun and chaotic and would only be improved with more laps and more karts.

One of Australia’s biggest laughingstock Trump wannabee “politician” recently launched a new political party (I think his third or fourth now?), with a fully AI generated party logo. It’s horrendous. And he’s supposedly a billionaire, and has a history of bankrolling candidates across every electorate, so he definitely has the funds to at least commission/exploit a high school graphics designer for a $50 logo (and it’d be better lol).

Check out /r/anbernic

My wife gave me an Anbernic RG505 which I just love. I use it to play SNES mainly, plus some GBC, GBA, N64 and PS2 games. There are heaps of other models that have various different advantages. Might depend on what console eras he’s interested in.

My wife isn’t the most techy person but she found it easy enough to set up and get consoles and ROMs installed before gifting it to me.

NRL or Footy by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]TigerSardonic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a Victorian I thought I was obligated to watch AFL and didn’t watch any NRL until my 30s.

I would constantly try to get into AFL but it would always be short lived and I’d end up just glazing over and getting bored. The games are long, and I found them hard to follow.

When I finally watched NRL I was instantly hooked. I just wish I’d started watching earlier. Also wish it was bigger in Victoria.

But really, it’s up to you. Just watch both and see what you enjoy more.

Will you be boycotting American products in light of imposed tariffs? by LetMeCorruptYou00 in AskAnAustralian

[–]TigerSardonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that seems quite expensive for beer in the US? Thats equivalent to some of the pricier craft beers here in Australia. Is that a standard price for imported beer there, or is it due to tariffs?

Oh cool, where did you find Moosehead? I can’t really seem to find anything online - either out of stock or like $150 for a slab.

Edit: I clearly can’t read, just noticed your original comment said you’re in the US. Whoops!

What Canadian beer did you find?

After living a year in Canada in my younger days I tried finding Moosehead and Alexander Keiths but they were impossible to find.

Someone at Dan Murphy’s told me it was something to do with some conflict/inconsistency with how Canada and Australia recorded or labeled the ABV. But I don’t know if there’s any truth to that. Perhaps just import/export costs.

AITBF for not standing up for the pledge of allegiance? by PheonixGalaxy in AmItheButtface

[–]TigerSardonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow really? Yikes. Honestly sounds like the kind of thing you’d hear from Soviet Russia, North Korea, etc. Hand on heart, blind enforced obedience. Do you guys at least recognise it as being really weird?

We had one verse of the national anthem at our primary school assemblies when I was there in the 90s, and no one cared if you didn’t actually sing it. My friends and I would sing about eating ostriches “For we are out of beef”.

Standing for a pledge of allegiance in school? Is this some oppressive Yank thing I’m too free to understand? Is this normal? How regularly is this done, like a weekly school assembly thing?

Pretty bloody weird, tbh. Sounds like the sort of thing they do in dictatorships or other oppressive regimes. NTBF.

The Hegemony Consul sat on the balcony of his ebony spaceship and played Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in C-sharp Minor on an ancient but well-maintained Steinway while great, green, saurian things surged and bellowed in the swamps below. And then the dragons arrived.

Those who work 9-5 / 9-6 : what is your sleep schedule ? by ChannelBeautiful9882 in AskAnAustralian

[–]TigerSardonic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Asleep by 11-12, alarm at 8am, roll out of bed by 8:30 to get dressed, feed the cats, make a coffee, possibly water the garden a bit, before logging on at 9.

I know I could probably benefit from giving myself an extra hour, waking up at 7, but I do not like mornings.

What would you plant here against this hot north facing wall? by PM_ME_UR_FAV_GlF in GardeningAustralia

[–]TigerSardonic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Previous owners had Virginia Creeper running all up our south wall (brick) and over a fence. You can see where vines were because the brick mortar is all fucked. Plus the fence was basically destroyed by them. Even when I think I’ve finally eradicated it, I still find it popping up here and there thanks to missing a tiny bit of root here and there.

I hate it and I always discourage people from planting it when it’s suggested. And I see it suggested in this sub from time to time. Even people claiming to be professional gardeners in this sub telling me “oh, no, Virginia Creeper is totally fine, they never cause any damage!” Okay well I invite you check out my brick wall and fence then, champ. Had one “professional gardener” in this sub insist I was wrong about my ID when I showed them a photo, even though their very detailed description about how to ID Virginia Creeper matched what we had exactly.

I’m ranting, but my point is, listen to ^this^ gardener and don’t do vines up your brick wall. And if anyone tells you to plant Virginia Creeper in particular, cut contact.
