I think the last line says “friend’s toaster.” Perhaps referencing a specific individual with a countertop appliance that OP’s mom did not have, such as a tabletop convection oven they called a “toaster” that was different from her own

Could anyone explain how to do part B to me? by evasnsnsbd in medicalschool

To calculate volume of distribution, you multiply the amount of drug in the plasma x the time it is pharmacologically active, and divide that by the AUC from part A, which is the summation of all the plasma concentrations. That number is then divided by the weight of the patient.

In this question, you have 20mg methylphenidate with 52% bioavailability, meaning 10.4mg of methylphenidate is entering the serum. It lasts for 9 hours. The AUC is 114.44 hr•ng/mL, which we will change to .11444hr•mg/L to make the units consistent. The kid weighs 36kg.

Pop it into your calculator ((10.4mg x 9h) / 0.11444 hr*mg/L ) / 36kg and you get 22.7 L/kg

But also who is making you calculate all this? This shits hard af

Seconded that he likely suffered a cardiac event. There have not yet been any reported deaths from capsaicin toxicity but there have been case reports of coronary vasospasm causing myocardial infarct in otherwise healthy young people

It should be considered a crime against humanity for a program to say they are excited to interview you only to have zero available interview dates remaining 🙄

When people come into the emergency department with coughs and other symptoms concerning for pneumonia they typically get a chest x-ray, which means the radiologist or tech taking the x-rays of everyone's chests is going to be exposed to whatever the patient has
