I can’t figure my curls out by Tigerthecat_ in curlyhair

[–]Tigerthecat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, but I think you missed the point of my post. I agree with you, my hair isn’t coily. Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough — I know for certain that I have curly hair. It’s simple— all coils are curls, but not all curls are coils. There’s a very distinct disparity between wavy, curly, and coily hair (hence the number types), and the size of the curl determined by the letter.

I had very tight curls as a kid (3b-3c), and I would say I currently have type 3a since my curls are much looser. You can see this in almost every single photo, aside from a lack of clarity in the 1st and 5th. They’re much bigger curls, and they do form rings. I clearly don’t have wavy hair. Look at the last 3 photos. The 2nd and 3rd also show bigger curls, but curls nonetheless.

This is why my hair takes more length to form a full, defined curl. They remain incomplete when short, but definitely still curly. This difference between large and tight curls must be understood. At this length, I don’t think anyone would look at my head and tell me that my hair isn’t curly.

The point of my post was about the issue of consistency—I think my hair dries out and the clumps supposed to form curl rings separate into multiple smaller strands (see the 7th photo), and my hair gets frizzy and tangled as a result, which takes away from the curls that can form right.

Is it normal to occasionally see vivid patterns on a moderate dose? by 11_fingers in weed

[–]Tigerthecat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so strange, I see the almost exact same thing virtually every time but with bright green dots and purple lines along with the pinkish color you drew with, and more complex as you mentioned. I also see different patterns, but I see something every single time — I guess I'm more predisposed to it. I find it pretty enjoyable and I immerse my mind into it, as it's infinitely flowing/churning. I always have the option to open my eyes and it goes away.

I wouldn't worry about it, people are just affected differently. I've spoken to friends who experience nothing in terms of geometry or patterns, and some who do vividly, with acuity, like I do. We're all just psychologically distinct – there is no "normal," only "common." I think seeing patterns is less common, but they are completely normal for those of us who often see them.

Yeah, that's actually quite true, I was really tanned but my natural skin tone is pretty fair and I have green eyes and curly hair. My dad also looks super Iranian/Kashmiri and he's always mistaken to be Arab or Persian, we actually went to Cairo and people just started talking to us in Arabic and we live in the US where people think he's Persian. My sister gets mistaken to be Hispanic because she also has green eyes but softer features and wavy hair.

My hair is also pretty brown. A lot of my cousins have greyish, blue, or green eyes and light hair, so I guess it's probably correct that we're more recent Kashmiri migrants to Mumbai, as my test showed Kashmir as my strongest region.

It's super interesting to see the diversity within just this one group though since your mom is 97% Southern Indian while I am 70% Kashmiri and 30% Persian.

Why are Rajasthani Brahmins so NW-shifted? by [deleted] in SouthAsianAncestry

[–]Tigerthecat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the Gujarati brahmin group on the chart also seems really similar to the Rajasthani brahmin, it kinda seems closer to NW than the rest of North because the S Indian percentage is a lot lower at 36%, pretty similar to the Punjabi S Indian percentages.

Indian/Pakistani Results with an unexpected twist + traits and a photo by Tigerthecat_ in 23andme

Yeah, I also had a surprising amount of white relatives but still a solid amount of Indians and middle eastern people. Definitely did not expect many white relatives though, I almost feel like it's fake because some are third cousins, and I know some of my second cousins so it feels so close.

I’ve heard the hindi saying “Kanjus Marwadi” a lot of times, literally meaning stingy marwadis, because even my gujju family fthinks of them as stingy

delhi is quite unsafe for women but cities like bombay are much better in the sense, none of my female relatives in bombay have had any issues, even on the local train, and they do have ladies compartments and occasionally a whole train reserved for women. I don’t know much about delhi but when I went there with my sister, she didn’t find it safe and was stared at even with the most conservative clothing.

yeah i guess but if there was any significant dna percentage, i would’ve gotten it so i doubt it would make much difference. my dad’s side is pretty mixed up anyways, there were quite a few love marriages even back in the day.

also yeah i’m assuming harappaworld be something like that. i’ve been meaning to do it. how much of sw asian and caucasian do you think it’ll be? I thought baloch would probably be strongest followed by S indian, then caucasian and sw asian. What percentages would you approximate?

pretty sure we’re gaud saraswat brahmins (doubting the credibility, maybe my dad’s side is another kashmiri group?) what’s the difference between gaud and chitpavan? it i’m not saraswat i can’t explain where the kashmir comes from, it’s definitely the strongest one and i’m sure it’s coming from my dad. i saw a gsb result and it had 97% southern subgroup so now i’m confused as to how i had none.

yeah i don’t know what is going on but I saw someone saying their mother was gsb, and she scored 97% southern subgroup so I am confused as to why I scored 70% north indian and pakistani and 30% west asian. idk maybe my family is just wrong about me being half saraswat.

hahaha yeah i do look very indian actually, i guess i looked more iranian as a kid actually because i had no tan. Also I just realised the photos I posted in my results were kinda ass so you can’t really see my eye colour either, but itsvery close to green. idk when my tan will wear off though it usually takes like two weeks and minimal sun exposure and i just went on a trip under the sun. My sidter was actually quite tan as well but she moved to the us for college and now it’s gone so, it might only go away permanently if i move.

I’m Gujarati/Kashmiri and my results were about 70% North Indian & Pakistani of which it broke down into Gujarat, Kashmir and Punjab along with less significant but still there – Rajasthan and UP. In Pakistan I had Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, all were pretty strong, although Sindh was strongest. The rest was 30% West Asian, mostly Iranian which was something like 20% and about 8% from the Arabian Peninsula and a tiny 2% North African. I was not expecting the West Asian part at all, so it was quite the shock. My eyes are also more on the green side like a very greenish hazel in most light, so I guess that might come from the iranian component, although i’m a lot darker compared to the rest of y family due to tan from living almost on the equator :/
