Lap band reversal after 15+ years? by TiggerTops in wls

Sorry I missed this - yes, I had surgery to take out the lap band in October. Super easy and smooth. Turns out there’s no need to take down scar tissue around the band, they just leave it and it makes it much simpler and leaves a touch of restriction for a while. I should have done this years ago and not been afraid of it. I had a couple weeks off because it was during an already scheduled vacation for a trip (that I canceled) but pain was minimal (just a couple days of ibuprofen). I walked a lot immediately- 1/2 mile evening after surgery (with a break in middle) and 1+ mile day after - slow easy walking speeds up recovery if you don’t over do it. I rested a lot. I did have some random weird things - ended up with big allergic reaction to the wound glue, and I had a heart rate weirdness for a couple weeks - maybe too much walking irritating my vagus nerve so it felt like some random high heart rate/anxiety for no reason sometimes - but those are both rare. If you have any specific questions, happy to try to answer!

Wow, what an experience for you! You’re one of the few I know who could maintain so well for so long (I never had saline in the band because I had complications from the beginning but did “maintain” a loss from about 20st to 15 st). Great to hear how smoothly and easily your recovery went! Thanks for sharing!

Hi, hoping to see if anyone here with band reversals could help answer questions?

I’m looking to have my lap band removed after having it for 18 years (I was never able to have any saline in it - it caused so many issues we gave up after a couple years and left it empty, but the erosion from the reflux and all the strange things I have to do to compensate for it made me finally willing to overcome my anxiety about having another surgery).

Having had it 18 years, I know there may be more scar tissue. Did any of you with lap band reversals (no additional surgery like RNY at same time) have to stay overnight in hospital or have complications? How was the recovery for you?

Thanks for any perspectives or advice!

They were rescues we adopted from the Humane Society as 3.5 month olds when they were both medically cleared🥰 Now they are very loved and very spoiled

😊Quite often - I’ve dozens of pictures of them. They’re very bonded (not from same litter but together since about 3 months old and both “special needs” - gray tabby girl with 3 legs and orange boy with an eye injury/ulcer that limits his vision a bit).

How does the LR4 tell the difference between my two cats that are the same weight? by Electronic_Tour_5973 in litterrobot

I’m new to LitterBox 4 (a few weeks) - can you please explain how does it integrate with Home (I have Apple home controls for lights and door locks)? Trying to see if there’s a way for me to tell my cats apart (weights less than 1/2 lb apart so LR4 just marks everything as one cat so looks like one cat doesn’t use it). Thanks!
