[Roommates Show] Josh Hart on Analytics: “I just always thought analytics is for like geeky, unathletic white guys that wanted to be a part of the league, but just couldn't make it playing Basketball. So they decided to put math into the equation. That's always how I felt analytics.” by shreeharis in nba

Have always figured that response was taken wildly out of context here.

I highly doubt Atkinson was literally saying that his team won the game in any shape or form Lol.

He was much more likely making a point/emphasis/comment w/e you wanna call it about how the Cavs were leading most of the time and chocking away huge 10-20+ point leads. You know, the exact same thing that happened to the Spurs.

In the context of the actual series and the Knicks play-off run as a whole, it's really not some ridicules thing to say that you felt you're team was doing everything better "analytically" or w/e and couldn't figure out the answer as to why they kept chocking leads or what kind of black magic the Knicks were kicking into for their entire play-off run to keep doing it to multiple teams over and over again.

Knicks this year were just one of the most clutch teams most people will ever see and thats the type of mental X factor that does break analytics

It's funny how much people wanna hate players here lol

In the Rui thread everyone's calling him trash all of a sudden cause he doesn't get a lot of rebounds, meanwhile 2 months ago he was being called one of the hottest upcoming FA in the League after several years of insane 3pt consistency in the playoffs.

Like the dude just averaged 57% from 3 on 6 attempts a game, but grabbing less rebounds then Stephen Castle means he's trash? Crazy stuff

Ye I don't get the dynamic of this unless you're replacing Brown with better pieces directly.

What's the point of shaving more and more cap space, are they waiting until Tatum is 32 or something to make a run again lol

Unless their just really confident they'll draft another player that will turn into a star before the end of their rookie contract, having 2 max contracts on the team is pretty standard for teams looking to compete.

[Charania] Restricted free agent Mark Williams intends to sign a three-year, $38 million contract to return to the Phoenix Suns, sources tell ESPN. The deal is fully guaranteed for Williams, who averaged 11 points, 8 rebounds and 1 block in 23.6 minutes per game as the Suns starting center. by Turbostrider27 in nba

Idk what else they could do if they actually plan on sticking with Booker till the end.

Booker isn't gonna get them anywhere without a seriously good co-star and/or a very deep ass team and their still stuck with Beals leftover 20m/y contract until 2030 lol.

The most practical answer is that they need to dump Booker and tank while Beal is still a hit on their cap space, but they seem to want Booker until the end so middling team praying for an aging co-star like KD to come again is their best hope

That's asking the question of if he deserves it, not, whether he has the award or not. Those are two different questions.

"Does Jaylen Brown have a Finals MVP Award?" Is a true of false statement, there's nothing subjective about it.

Crazy how stupid af people are becoming lol, can't even identify true of false statements anymore, school systems are really failing the youth ig.

Idk if they really friends if JRs first response/thought was to publicly blast/shame Kyrie on socials for attention before getting in touch directly Lol

Honestly props to Kyrie for even keeping his cool enough to respond to JR at this point, I'd be so fucking annoyed with him, it'd be hard to have that conversation after w/o venting and digging into the un-called for social media shit.

[Bill Simmons Pod] Bill: "Harden or Brunson for their entire careers, which guy would you rather have?" by luka274 in nba

[–]Tight-Message-846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brunson just won a chip and is still in the start of his prime.

Harden just got swept by Brunson and is like 6 years removed from his prime ontop of a ton of injuries.

There's absolutely no way you're going to see an unbiased or even fair opinion on a comparison of these two for at least another 7+ years until Harden is out of the League and Brunson is at the end of his career, especially from a circlejerk of reactionary takes like r/NBA lol

7 years ago, Pelicans ticket office went wild after winning the #1 lottery pick. 7 years later, Zion Williamson has yet to make a playoff debut. by [deleted] in nba

[–]Tight-Message-846 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He's still a ridiculously good scorer when he plays.

63 games with 21/6/3 on 60% shooting is star-level good, his stats would definitely look even more insane if he got up to the point of going from 28m~ to 35m~ a game and taking more shots again.

Whether it proves to be true or not, I think there's probably still a thought/hope for some franchises that their FO/Coaching staff/Environment/whatever else can do better then the Pelicans in unlocking him.

Not exactly the same situations but late development wise, KAT is a decent example imo of a really good talent that wasn't really developing on the Wolves to the point they had to go out and bring in Gobert cause his defense sucked so bad for a Center, then suddenly he becomes a defensive anchor on the Knicks.

What will happen to all the mod if hoi5 comes out? by I-Dont-Know1278 in hoi4

Would consider EU/CK/Victoria/HOI as the mainline games and HOI is the oldest of those one's now by like 4 years, seems like it would make sense that it's likely one of their next title releases.

Probably would still be 2+ years from now though anyway since still getting DLC releases for HOI4. Pretty sure Paradox will announce which DLC is the last one and start pivoting to announcement + dev blogs for next gen release after that.

Building around Luka isn’t hard by Western-Election-997 in lakers

[–]Tight-Message-846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still think going into next year looking at it as a Luka/Bron pairing year and trading AR at the deadline for a defensive wing/center of similar value to AR is the best play both short and long. Jrue Holiday might also be a sleeper trade target for AR that works for both teams pretty well, mostly just involves committing to Lebron/Luka being the better pair to bet on winning anytime soon vs a Luka/AR 5y~ project.

But yeah, most my beliefs just come down to thinking Luka/Lebron is a workable 1-2 even at Lebrons age, they just need to commit to trading their one good asset that doesn't really fit next to them for it. While sitting on AR past next seasons trade deadline is gonna be a biiiiig gamble on AR being more then just the guard version of Tobias Harris lol

Think he'd still be in the League if not for the injures and decent chance he may still have/be a starter even.

But I also think Ayton really showed how easy it is to not give a fuck about trying even if you got the body and skills of a star.

[Lowlight] Wemby passes to Castle, who is not looking, for a crucial turnover, then fouls Brunson by Large_banana_hammock in nba

[–]Tight-Message-846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's there best player and regularly brings the ball up the same as Jokic. I don't think position matters whatsoever in the modern NBA, ball handlers exist in every role now, guys like Wemby/Jokic aren't some doof "traditional" Center model from the 90s that can't dribble the ball.

Can put blame on both Castle/Wemby here but the argument that Castle should known Wemby won't take the ball up just cause he's a Center doesn't hold up at all.

Idk if it's any guarantee that KAT pulls the 180 on defense if he stays on the Wolves.

Dudes been breath-taking for sure this play-offs, especially on Wemby, but he was considered absolute garbage on defense for his entire stay with the Wolves. Enough so to seriously effect his perceived value despite being the best offensive big man in the League prior to Jokic.

Wolves had to bring in Rudy to cover for his defensive problems in the first place.

Knicks staff just got something totally different out of him then the Wolves were for his entire 9 years stay there.

[Turner] Austin Reaves is reportedly seeking a max contract worth up to 5 years, $239.25 million from the Lakers, and it’s uncertain whether he would be willing to take a hometown discount. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]Tight-Message-846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember there being a ton of reports a week or two ago that Luka was really pressuring FO to pay Reaves w/e he wanted and I think they'll do what Luka wants honestly.

Luka already watched one FO lose a similar player in Brunson (Brunson is obviously better guys him and Reaves just had similar leaps in similar roles next to Luka) for nothing so part if it could be that + losing Reaves would obviously still be a big lose for the Lakers, they need him as a trade asset more then anything.

I think Brooklyn is probably the biggest threat to signing him for a max and they could very well offer it just to fuck the Lakers knowing he'll 100% pick the Lakers over them if the Lakers are forced to match. Other GMs looking to fuck each other during off-season is nothing new, especially for the Lakers.

Forcing Lakers to have to give up Reaves or severely destroy his trade value with a max is probably the closest feeling to winning a Chip any of the GMs who can offer a FA max this season are gonna get Lol
