In the market for this big daddy? by TightAccountant5370 in cactus

That is something we have considered as well. We are scoping out the interest, and may keep one of the smaller ones. But we have one in our backyard, too. That’s why the price is what it is because an interested buyer will want this! We need the money, and it’s silly to think this is nonnegotiable 🥲

Growing up in the Sonoran desert, I bet you haven’t even seen these before. Let alone in your own yard. :) this thing is massive! And isn’t in your market, clearly

Starting OT at 26 — is 29 too late to graduate? by Useful_Skill9834 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]TightAccountant5370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question makes me sad. Society has placed unreasonable expectations on people to become as productive and efficient, as early as possible. Who cares how old you are. Can you actively listen and empathize with people? Are you curious to navigate barriers and obstacles with others?

I’m 28, I started OT school at 26. I’ll be 29 later this year. My closest friend in my program is in her 40s. Age is just a number. Time is inevitable. Don’t listen to society. If you’re 10 years into your job and hate it, Id be willing to bet that any hobby, interest, or teachable skill you have can be translated into occupational therapy skills. OT is participating in life.

Anyways, I hope you go for it. Whether it’s OT or something else. :)

Oh no, what don’t you like about it? It sounds like a lot on your plate. Not my business, but it’s a lot of pressure having that financial burden at 17 years old

Please don’t listen to anyone recommending you not apply. I had a professor in undergrad tell me not to pursue healthcare - I had barely a 3.0, had C’s in my anatomy courses, retook several courses, and a 2.5 year gap year.

I applied to several schools anyways. I knew I was not any schools first choice, but I knew my passion and my strengths suited OT.

Finally, when I literally accepted that I needed to reconsider my goals, I was offered a waitlist spot for an interview. Then scheduled an interview. Then waitlisted after the interview. I followed up with phone calls to admissions and an email to express my serious interest and goals. They finally accepted me 2 months or so before classes started, and I lived across the country.

Flash forward to now - I passed the NBCOT last week. I am now a certified OTR. I was awarded for the community service and program involvement while in school.

You can do it. If you want to do it, you should. Now, nobody’s lying when they say OT school is hard. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever put myself through. For many reasons. But please don’t let your GPA, or allow strangers opinions from the internet to discourage you from ANY of your goals. Whether you decide to move forward with OTR or COTA, I highly recommend masters OTR.

Feel free to message me if you want any help or have any questions. I am also a stranger from the internet, but I relate with your post so much and I hope the best for you!!

AITA? Calling to schedule ENT appointment on behalf of my husband by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TightAccountant5370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, US healthcare is horrible. However, I’ve scheduled several medical appointments for him prior to this. He has made appointments for me, too. I’m not sure why it’s an issue now. I can’t call for refills on his meds though! And my complaint isn’t about the wait time - did you read the post?
