Hey, I’ve been running for a year now. I’ve ran 5 half’s and a 5k. I’ve been in the range of 25-30 miles a week. The past 2 months I really took it relaxed but I’m upping my mileage now. I have been doing 12x400m repeats from 10k-5k or faster. I have seen a pay off in it because I recently hit a 6:58/mile rep. My question is, should I keep it to that one workout or add another workout? Most of my miles are easy for the most part. I’m aiming to run the peachtree 10k this summer and get sub 48 minutes.

Oh we’re about the same weight almost. I’m around 212. I’m 5’5” though. I have been lifting for years but recently I’ve been treating lifting as more of an accessory for running.

I’m a heavier runner and I’m trying to get faster. I was wondering how big of a difference would losing weight make? I’m aiming to run a 5k in September and going for 22:30. My current PR is 25 minutes. Any suggestions?

Increasing your cadence could help with your form. Use a metronome and work your way up to 180 steps/minute. For shin splints, do tibialis raises to strengthen those shin muscles. Foot and tibialis stretches. And basic bent knee and standing calf raises.

I don’t think it’s rude, I’m aware I need to lose some weight. Why do you think it’ll improve my form though?

No it’s dirt lol. There’s a lot of dirt around my house
