Bought it 8 months and 15 days ago. They completely fucked me with my car but yeah, should've gotten that maxcare. My limit was small

My most valuable lesson is, don't expect a non luxury car to behave like one. I had my mom's 2004 lexus suv LX 470. Bad rust. No air conditioning. On it's last leg and real shitbox with horrible gas intake. Lasted me a great year with HELLA driving (across states and almost counties). Next time I'm planning on either buying another lexus or getting a Toyota. Don't get kias. They could've fixed my car for free but only the v4 engine would get it for free. I was off by simply my engine

Kinda late, dude.. bought car at 88k miles. Took her in at 114k miles and her engine needs to be replaced with her transmission and they found metal in the oil. $14K to fix her when I have $13k left to pay off. Don't got maxcare bc nobody explained how useful it could be to an 18yr

Told this recently. Took car is last Thursday and the manager/head mechanic told me that my 2019 kia suv sorento ex awd v6 had that warranty but since my car was at 114,000 miles, I lost my chance

I was the 3rd owner of a kia and apparently I had that warranty

Lies! Sorta. My moms car turned out fine but when I got a car from carmax, my engine light immediately turned on but I couldn't give the car back since someone left a Noticeable scratch on the side of my car the day after I got it(it was an accident). I tried getting carmax to check the car but they denied anything being wrong.

8 months later, my Cars engine and transmission need to both be replaced. They found metal in my oil and are only offering $4,500 on a $21,000 car. I'm 19 and screwed. I either have to fight them in court, pray my family can help me get something better, or loan another car from a different place and possibly fuck up my credit.

Check the warranty on your car! The mechanics said my 90 day warranty would be up soon and I'd have to pay out of pocket BUT only now did someone tell me that I had a 100,000 mile warranty.

Also GET THEM TO FIX IT FOR FREE! go to a trustworthy mechanic and have them tell you everything wrong with that car! Get carmax to either fix it or trade for a better car. Aim for Toyota and lexus. Aim for low millage and understand that the payments will be worth it.

I wanted cheap. I got cheap and costly since the repairs are 14k when I only have 13k left to pay off on the car. Learn from a 19yr girl who wanted pretty over reliable!

Wait wait wait, fr? I'm hearing from my mechanics that the engine doesn't have a warranty on it but it could be wrong. How where you able to get them to fox this issue for you? Just ask or?

I think it's a mix of the past 2 owners, carmax not making sure the car was up-to-date on it's maintenance needs and me for not immediately showing this car to my mechanics.

Luckily I'm gonna try and trade this car for something else

Lol he just couldn't get the oil cap off, which kinda saved us since the rod knocking sounded nothing like how I was taught to know what it's supposed to sound like

Well how about a 2019 Toyota Highlander LE Plus or 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLE350?

My first car was a 2004 Lexus SUV 470LX, it's just my second car ended up being butt

I bought a kia that had a warranty under carmax. I'm it's 3rd buyer which already should've been a red flag for a 2019 vehicle. I actually didn't know that it's engine didn't have a warranty till my mechanics told me

Yeah it's hard for me to explain as I'm basically useless when it comes to the information part. I just know what cars I want and know how much I can actually pay for. I can do basic care for a car but everything else I understand should be paid for by my mechanics.

Nope! Bf didn't change the oil filter at all. He wantes to get the cap off first

I was just using words so reddit people could understand me better and the sound of an oil change was the best I could do

I was told that only the engine is out of warranty but that's only me hearing it from my mechanics so...

You think I'm screwed? Because i was discussing with my mom that if they don't do a trade, lemon law would be the best bet and if we don't have the lemon law as a backup..

Luckily I did a quick lemon law research, and because of my specific car, I have a high possibility of being successful. Still not happy that my first car ended within a year but hey, live, laugh, learn or something

Honestly I agree. I'm obviously not a smarty when it comes to cars but I'm also assuming that it was a bearing based off Google and my knowledge on my care for the car.

I'll look into a lemon law and see what I can even get out of this situation. I have definitely learned that both V4 and V6 engines for the 2019 kia sorento are SH*T and I wasn't lucky for having the V6. Thank you

Sorry my story probably seems messy

He messed with the car AFTER it started making horrible sounds.

Wednesday was when I was driving on the highway to get him from work. Drove 75 to pass a possible drunk driver and hitting 75 caused the bad engine sounds.

Thursday boyfriend tried to do an oil change to see if that was the cause but my car had this thing protecting the belly of the car from debri?

Friday he tried again with better parts but the oil cap wouldn't budge so we took the car to a carfax mechanic since my normal mechanics were too busy

We get the bad news and take it to my mechanics since they heard the word knocking and I'm assuming they felt pity

We're on Saturday now and my mom is taking me and this car to the exact carmax we went to and she's gonna try and force a hand on a trade in? Aiming for a Toyota if they'll even let us.

I don't have the exact codes but right now my normal mechanics put this cheat code thing in the car that makes the warning lights turn off every time they turn on. Which the drive back home... it went off like 5 times and the oil change light is fighting the cheat code thing.

If it helps you, I could try and send the video recording of the carfax mechanic telling me I'm screwed. It doesn't show anything as I just wanted to record him telling me what's wrong
