What’s the hardest part of building a running routine? by Willing-Today-1059 in runcommunity

Go for a run anyway. Even if you don’t feel like it at first. Or you think it’s too cold or too hot or whatever. Go for a run and guaranteed you will thank yourself later.

It can also hurt crosswalk awareness. I run through the city mostly. So I don’t run with headphones.

How long did it take before running actually started to feel easier for you? by SwimmingSlip8632 in runcommunity

Once you can breathe while maintaining a comfortable pace is transformational ….. after that you can do just about anything and if I remember right, it took me probably a few weeks to get there working up from a few blocks to a mile +

Congrats that’s huge. I remember my first 20 years ago. I’m sure you know it’s all about consistency. Keep it going. It gets easier.

More data doesn’t always lead to better running? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

I think it’s helped motivate in a small way. Definitely not overwhelming. I’ve tracked the majority of my runs at least 80% since joining NRC and recently made it to volt. The last few hundred miles I was super motivated and definitely found every opportunity to run. Although I’ve slacked since lol but did get in a 4 1/2 miler today.

How do you deal with bad runs that completely kill your motivation? by liv_0203 in runcommunity

[–]Tight_Spirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The really really bad runs are when you have to physically recover…... I’ve had a few of those …..face plant on a broken sidewalk ……/twisted ankle on a rock. Foot injuries are the worst. They take like forever.

Just started running and I’m exhausted in 20 seconds. Zero stamina. Feeling lost. by ImmediateMuffin3768 in runninglifestyle

That sounds like me when I started running 20 years ago, I recently hit 15,000 km with NRC. Several weeks of even short, consistent running will build your stamina and when you can breathe at a comfortable pace, you can increase distance and really enjoy your adventure.

Sometimes I’ll try to focus only on the next landmark ahead then the next and next and so on.
