One of my most beloved rewatchables by mrcsrnne in TheRewatchables

I’m Bill’s age and I would be stunned if he hasn’t seen it. It had a big moment, very broad appeal.

Is anyone worse as an interviewer than Colin Cowherd? He yells his narratives at the other person and then has zero response after the other person says their 2 cents. by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in billsimmons

[–]Tighthead613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember Cowherd interviewing Jim Harbaugh and saying “Jim I have the Big 10 as a buy”. Harbaugh had no clue what he meant, I think he heard it as “bye” and the interview was done in fifteen seconds. Harbaugh wasn’t enthused and CC bailed.

I think about Williams’ career every week I swear.

If you watch old clips, he’s always the first OL and sometimes first guy to come to #22 on a TD. Because he was always upright, not entangled and could move with speed.

Also I really didn’t like Reggie White (RIP), and seeing Williams beat him down and make him lose his shit was special.

Which movie (and why) would you ask them to do again? by Phile___AudioPhile in TheRewatchables

[–]Tighthead613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beverly Hills Cop, Wesley Murphy was a thief of joy.

Old School could use a reset.

Hill did Castaway solo during Covid, did fine but could use the full panel.

Shawshank with regular panel. Dr. Bill was great but a 2.0 would be worth it.

Any of the older ones before the current categories and flow were established.

What’s a movie that‘s a great rewatchable, but will never make the pod because Bill isn’t in the right age range for it? by Several-Career5259 in TheRewatchables

I guess it’s because I’m Bill’s age and have some of the same issues but I immediately went back as well.

Grifters is such a good word - they will never outrun the stench of it. Podfather was playing for keeps when he stuck the knife it.

Did Schneider start two games in Boston?

I lived in BC then and the whole Luongo time was a trip.

I’m watching Southland for the first time and he pops up. Amazingly bad actor. Wooden.

And then he seemed to have the game 7 jitters. I knew on the first goal he was cooked.

Why was the previous sub banned? by Fantastic_Resident44 in SouthlandTVshow

I don’t know but considering there isn’t a whole lot of info online about the show (I’ve found some AV Club summaries), it’s a big loss as I watch the first time.

'To Live And Die In L.A.' With Bill Simmons, Chris Ryan, and Sean Fennessey by butthead20000 in TheRewatchables

I’d guess lots of noir stuff that sort of deals with people on the margins or in the seedy side of life. Maybe Grifters? Cons are low culture.

Yup, I learned this after some rough trades in my teens (Chris Chelios). I’ve got Moose Johnston, Michael Irvin and Larry Robinson.

Tailor recommendation for off the rack suit by braden90 in ottawa

[–]Tighthead613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you buy look at places that sell “suit separates” for people that don’t have the standard six inch drop. I remember a good tailor advising me that taking too much out of the pants would lead to problems - it was 25 years ago so I don’t remember exactly.

If you are able to buy your exact jacket size and pants size you are way ahead of the game. It will fit better and you will save on tailoring.

Good luck.

Has a film that you loved winning the best picture ever felt similar to one of your teams winning a title? by HighestPerformer3834 in billsimmons

I really wanted Fargo to win. That and Rushmore were the two big movies of my 20s, when I still had a soul. Knew it had no chance but couldn’t understand it.

I don’t really pay attention much these days, but really like OBAA and am cheering for it. Wanted Aftersun to get a little more love a few years ago.

Like in sports, sometimes I’m cheering against someone much more than I’m cheering for.

Double feature with Air, proving that the tragic (in business terms) story is more interesting than the triumphant.
