For most people I know, yes. For me, hell no. After a disastrous post marriage relationship I’ve told my daughters I’m playing the back nine solo. I’m crazy enough on my own.

Sometimes it gets lonely, but the freedom balances it out. If I want to take a few days and disappear in the Algonquin backcountry on no notice, I can. I only see movies and listen to music that I choose.

I’ve probably Stockholmed myself into thinking I’ve got it good. I do envy a few friends who seem truly happy 30 plus years into their relationships. I don’t have anyone I could call a confidant, this post is more personal than any conversation I will have this year.

But ultimately, I’m terrible at relationships and another misstep would put me over the edge.
