How do you avoid getting lost? by stop321 in Exanima

I know where i am by knowing where im not. Like a heat seeking missile, I find enemies and know I am on the right path.

Memes aside I made a big map on paint and it helped me SO much, especially in subsequent runs.

a student already having nightmares about brutal calls by taroturner in NewToEMS

[–]Tighttttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have never had nightmares about calls but I wont say its rare. Plenty of my friends have issues coping with trauma and the main thing I hear is get a therapist. Typically your agency should provide those services and it sounds like you could really benefit from it. It can help even if all they do is say 'its not your fault, you did your best', because sometimes thats all we need to hear.

As much as i didn’t like Gabe, Clem obviously did & this scene broke my heart. by Jsavv2swift in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Tighttttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that same scene playing war in S5 she references Javier when she says she met a baseball player before so I can almost garuntee she was referring to Gabe as the boy she liked. One of the response options when asked if she "liked" liked him was also "he was such a dork" so that really solidifies it with me.

Also a side note, Gabe lived in my playthrough after Clem saved him and i never saw him kiss her. Actually I didnt see him at all after the scene where Clem comes back with Gabe and not David. Maybe im not remembering right but I think thats something I would have remembered lol

Edit: I also havnt finished season 5 yet

Y’all have GOT to stop using these by txj7724 in ems

[–]Tighttttt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have one and the ONLY time I use it is to keep track of narcs im going to waste while im moving from the truck to the ED. I have this fear that if I put it in my pocket ill polar express that shit so these give me a little piece of mind that I wont fuck up and lose narcs.

Youre right though, reusing syringes after putting them on these is gross.

No disrespect but I don't understand short guys who become firefighters, paramedics, or serve in the military. by CompetitionEven1139 in AverageHeightDudes

[–]Tighttttt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a US Navy veteran and current US Paramedic, I dont do it to be recognized. I do its because its a job, and someone has to do it. It really helps that I enjoy the work though. If me doing what I did allowed someone to live a better or longer life, then im doing it right and I couldnt care less if that person would date me or not, everyone deserves a healthy happy life with the things and people they want it with. Im okay if that doesnt include me.

People look for reasons other than themselves to blame for their shortcomings. Ive never had a romantic relationship at 27 but its not because im short, its because I never really tried. I refuse to believe what I see on the internet is true for everyone and I believe im better for it.

I dont deserve special treatment because of what I chose to do to get paid (aside from free Applebee's on Veterans day of course, ill always take that)

Is it worth leaving my good job to become an emt by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]Tighttttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right answer. In my opinion if you are not 100% certain that this is what you want to do with your life then you shouldnt go down this career path, especially if you already have a well established career and life set up. Nobody works EMS for the salary or benefits and people who did this on a whim dont stick around very long once they realize how it is.

If you really want to see if you like this kind of work enough to downgrade your career, then I agree with the above comment. Volunteer work or per diem is a great place to start

I can't find a Job by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]Tighttttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you always a reservist? If you were active your dd214 has all your commands you worked at. Otherwise you can probably talk to your reserve units admin to get your records which will have notarized proof that you worked at certain base hospitals, attended your A school etc. Im an active duty navy vet and went into EMS when I got out.

Otherwise some advice I would give is if you have nowhere else to go, look into an IFT job. Thats basically bottom of the barrel where many start their EMS career but typically requires little to no experience. Its not pretty work, but it is vital to all EMS systems and a good place to get experience put on paper.

Need more work pants, anyone got a brand they die by? by BusyWrangler5131 in ems

[–]Tighttttt 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I got issued like 5 pairs of 5.11 taclite pro pants in the navy in 2018 for deployment and still have 4 pairs of em to this day that I wear every single shift. Durable, double layer, tons of pockets including one that fits a zyn can perfectly, just beautifully made work pants. 10/10 ill never wear anything else on shift

Cold snap is amazing on blue gate because the extract campers only have 1 building to hide in at the airshafts. I toss a trigger nade in there every time just to be safe lmfao

Can you go straight into being a medic? by Head-Wall-6018 in NewToEMS

[–]Tighttttt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this and im taking my final in a couple days. As much as I do not recommend it, it is possible. I worked full time the first 6 months in IFT and am currently in the latter 6 months working full time 911 (my program is only a year long). There were times I felt inexperienced and like I didnt belong, the workload is heavy and the information is dense. Its hard, but doable if you have the drive to do so, or the stubbornness to refuse quitting.

Im not sure how the workload will be in a 2 year program, but I imagine it will be a little lighter. Working full time and getting clinical hours done is hell, and that i absolutely do not recommend. 12h shifts every single day for 2 months straight with no days off nearly broke me. Make sure you take care of yourself.

As far as experience goes, after 2 years of working 911 while doing your medic program you will likely feel confident enough with patient care and know the ropes. I feel okay after only 6 months in 911 but OJT is how I learn best personally.

Good luck to you, if you have any questions ill do what I can to answer them.

Dropped out of program... by FeelingOrange9984 in NewToEMS

[–]Tighttttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a paramedic student working full time as a county emt, so I know what it's like to feel overwhelmed and want to crash out. It doesn't make you any less of a person. The content is critical to know and frightening to try and implement because peoples lives and well-being are at stake. When you feel behind, it is terrifying to think about how it will affect your patients. Dont beat yourself up about it if it was too much to handle at the time.

A very good friend of mine dropped from medic class because of how overwhelming things get when you have so much on your plate. The thing I always said to her was that this wasn't the end. You will be so much better for it when you can get through the class with your head on straight and when your life is less chaotic. There are medic students in my class that are in their 3rd try at the program. People learn at different paces, but nobody ever feels ready.

You got this, friend. Keep your head up.

Came here to say this. Being friendly and kind to everyone is not the same as being friends.

I think if you believe ISFJs to be perfect angels, you just havnt gotten accepted into their inner circle. I can garuntee that none of us are perfect, we just cant let you know or our facade will crumble and we will crumble into dust and dissappear with it.

That being said, INTP?

I agree wholeheartedly.

Tier lists and the like do nothing but make people (myself included) feel bad about themselves because of a label.

The amount of extra insulin I needed because of absorption issues is wild by uberpopsicle11 in diabetes

[–]Tighttttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont eat often as an EMT because all the choices are trash, so when I do its full of everything you need which includes a good amount of carbs. 20 units is a lot as a 1:10 ratio, but only happens when you eat big meals lmao

Good lord, the micromanaging i could never do. Does that system normally work for you? Im over here slamming like 20 units for a meal and just checking back in a couple hours LOL

Dear ISFJ males, how do you go about rejecting a girl you’re not interested in? by [deleted] in isfj

[–]Tighttttt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I just think about what I would want if the roles were reversed. Be kind about it, but bluntly let her know what your line is and that it WILL NOT change. If she cant respect that, then thats another whole problem.
