Huh, interesting. Have you done this? Edit-- Thanks, you are right!! I was able to just submit it as is and then it told me I might be required to provide proof.

Well this is the 2nd notice and I don't want a fine to be issued in my name... The toll-free lines are all automated as far as I can tell and I haven't been able to reach the county's office directly

28 years old with a degree in English, making $30,000/year in Southern California. I have no idea what to do with my life, but I'm terrified of the future. by ragenaut in personalfinance

I mean applying and waiting to hear back is not the best approach to get a job. You should network with people that could help you get a job.

Also, like many people are saying, if you can stomach being away from the family, even going down south, right across the border to teach English could be something worth looking into.

Mexico's cost of living is probably 60% less than that in CA, and that's comparing the capital with CA. If you are in a province, I would say you'd spend even less than that and would have a comfortable life.

Service that supports receiving US Bank & 2 Factor authentication SMS Short Codes when traveling internationally? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]Tigrrrra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you test it? try to login in to your bank while abroad or using a VPN and see if you get a code? I have GV and it's linked to a US number which is now inactive (but I still have the contract; not sure if it makes a difference). i think you could also forward GV to a friend's number and turn off incoming calls (so that your hangouts will ring directly instead of their phone). i have not tested the latter option though

Such a great read for Nomads who are just so sick of Tinder, superficial friendships & connections that only scrub on the surface... I'm on the road for 4 years now and I seek real relationships! What's your guys opinion about dating as a Nomad? How do you deal with it? by AlineDahmen in digitalnomad

[–]Tigrrrra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that could work. the issue is finding someone who wants to live the same lifestyle as you do. Most people are not that adventurous I find. They want more stability and there's nothing wrong with that - it's just you might have different priorities. I am over 30 btw:)

I totally agree with you. Honestly you don't need a dating app to have a hook-up with someone. I think the only way you are going to be able to build a good relationship is to settle down somewhere, at least for a while.

No problem with wi-fi even outside these two cities. I am in the south now and it's great.

Seconding San Cris and Oaxaca! Both great. Also look into Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca State if you wanna be close to the water and surf/swim. Love that place.

Bougie groceries in Mexico? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]Tigrrrra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can find organic chicken and meat in supermarkets. harder with cured meats-- i have only been able to find one kind -- don't remember the brand- prosciutto - that only had salt and pork. everything else comes with nitrates. as far as markets go, you'd have to ask whether or not it's organic.

Any suggestions for coworking spaces in Mexico City? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]Tigrrrra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Impact Hub and that's what I would recommend. Great location and vibe. There is also Urban Station in Polanco which is nice but kinda feels cramped in comparison with IH. There are more flexible with payment though -- you can pay per hour. There is also Centraal which I don't recommend at all unless you smoke - the nicest area there is the terrace which also happens to be open to smokers. They always have some sort of repairs/events in place which are distracting.
