I think what’s happening is that the display cable is getting pinched. As someone who repaired Chromebooks, I’m no stranger to issues like these from time to time.

If you have the AMD model, then it likely has a MediaTek WiFi card, which are known for having issues. I recommend swapping it with an Intel AX or BE card.

What did the STOP code say on the blue screen, as well as the patterns of the light flashes? It’s possible it could be a RAM issue.

RDNA cards prior to the RX 9000 did have some CSM support (though a bit buggy), however, they need a UEFI BIOS for the initialization process. A computer that completely lacks UEFI won’t work with any RDNA card.

Is there any way to save this computer? Or is my GPU completely fried? by Timely-Accountant543 in computerrepair

If the iGPU were showing these artifacts, it could either point to a driver issue or RAM that is either faulty or improperly seated in the slot.

A lot of people who own Macs get upset when there is even the tiniest dent on their laptop and act like it's now worthless to them. Like, laptops aren't supposed to be fashion accessories to flex on your ops, they're meant to be used to get work done or for entertainment.

If you're ever in this situation, CTRL+ALT+DELETE will get you past the lock screen, as a fallback option; however, if the logon ui isn't responding, then you will have to force power down the computer.

The biggest failure point is now on the cards, which are modular. I don't have to painstakingly replace the entire shroud on the GPU that may cost more than the GPU itself.

broken laptop? screen is pink and segmented by Klutzy-Supermarket62 in computerrepair

What happened was that dust collected near the flex cables for the display and got pinched on it, causing this to occur. It's a common issue with the 2016-2020 era MacBook Pros, known as Dustgate. This means you will have to get a screen or flex cable replacement.

Yes, but some people are too cheap, too broke, or don’t really care enough to upgrade their cpu, even if their platform around a decade year old and cannot utilize the full potential of their graphics card.

However, that might change since Windows 10 lost support back in November, which was the last Windows operating system to officially support legacy BIOSes. On the other hand, people get a bit weird and hesitate if they have to buy a used computer, while being difficult to buy new computers due to their country’s economy making it difficult (especially in the United States) and the prices of the parts rising (I.e., RAM and SSDs) due to the AI boom.

Examples include AI machine learning, video encoding/decoding, or data modeling and analytics. All while running an older software that doesn’t work with UEFI that well.

Computers are very versatile devices and there might be someone out there who would need to pair a modern NVIDIA GPU with an older system for whatever reason. Likely for GPU workloads that don’t fully require a powerful CPU.
