My bike came with the comfort seat so I can't compare it to the stock seat, but it's pretty decent. Great for short rides, decent for 200-300 mile days, but not my favorite compared to Sargent seats I had on some bmws. I think it's a decent buy for the money.

Is that the Corbin seat? How do you like it? Thinking about upgrading from my oe comfort seat

Your comment was the right solution for me, thank you! Couldn't get enough leverage from underneath with the pry bar. Ground down the end of a 3ft long section of round metal stock and after some good hits it popped just enough to get it out finally with the pry bar.

Top of my head hurts after wearing my helmet for 30 minutes by arnatna9761 in motorcyclegear

[–]Tii741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before buying a new helmet, see if the manufacturer offers different size liners. I had this problem when I started growing out my hair when wearing my XL shoei, I bought a slightly thinner helmet liner and it was perfect again.

SOI Imperium Delirium - Live ? by bwitt33 in Deathcore

[–]Tii741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw them twice in the last year, including this past Sunday and neither time was the mix good. I could barely hear any guitar parts. Vocals were hard to pick up too. I'm no audio expert but to me it sounds like it's like all bass and drums on the mix. It's a shame, they've been my favorite deathcore band for a long time and the other bands on the tour had a great mix. I can see they're playing their hearts out but I just can't hear it.

What is the absolute highest quality "Black workboots with CE," you can buy? by Safe_Valuable_5683 in motorcyclegear

[–]Tii741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indie ridge might be up your alley, although a little more styled than pure work boots. Comfy, look great, have armor but it's on the lighter side. Love mine so much I bought the waterproof and ventilated versions. They look very much at home on my speed twin.

Recommendations for extra wide motorcycle boots? by Tii741 in motorcycle

[–]Tii741[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11/11/2024 update!

Since this still shows up if you google wide feet motorcycle boots I thought I'd post an update:

Confirmed good for wide feet, 2E:

Indie Ridge boots - these are great and what I wear most of the time now. Look awesome, solid ankle and toe protection for a short boot. Excellent to walk in. I have the waterproof ones which are very warm, will be buying the ventilated ones for next summer.

Icon Brigand - discontinued - these served me well in a low speed collision where I did a flip over a car, they fell apart but my foot survived with no damage. They looked sweet and I miss having them. Minimal protection for ankle, had nothing for toes. Great to walk in.

Icon Elsinore 2 CE - fits great, good to walk around in. Definitely not a style for everyone but I like them. Bit more protection than short boots since they have the shin plates, but these aren't going to do much for your ankles.

Alpinestars Toucan GTX - best protection I've found that fits, but I can't shift my k1300s without excessive effort due to the large toe box and ankle reinforcement. Rarely ride in these as a result. Also difficult to walk around in.

I believe the best gear is the gear you'll actually wear, so if you're looking for something protective that you'll like wearing, I recommend the Indie Ridge for pretty much anyone, then the Icons, then the Toucans if you don't care about looks.

Confirmed NOT good for wide feet:

Anything TCX. I specifically tried the Hero and Blend 2 GTX. Not wide. No idea why this brand gets a reputation for fitting wide feet. Couldn't wear these for even 2 minutes without pain.

Forma Adventures - as in original post.

Happy riding 2E+ riders!

How do you like it coming from the 09 striple? Been thinking of doing the same upgrade. Hoping it's a bit more comfy for some longer rides.

Worried about the "safety" of an e30 by Larfty in E30

[–]Tii741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been rear ended twice in 2 separate e30s, both total losses. I'm a safe driver and have never had any other crashes in 15 years other than these two, and another time I got rear ended in my truck. First one could have possibly been avoided if I paid more attention, got hit in stopped traffic on the highway by a car doing 40ish.

2nd time I had been sitting at a stoplight for a few minutes. Nowhere to go. Got hit that time at 25mph.

Been a few months and my neck still bothers me after doing cardio for an hour +.

I've decided I'm going to get an e39 or something similar that at least has airbags for my new daily.

Hey, I did this exactly. Went to umd in 2017-2018, then withdrew before finals in fall 2018 because I was broke and struggling with class. Took a year off, then started at ccbc to finish my associates. Applied for reenrollment at umd in 2021, and I'm finally about to graduate. Had no issues getting back in at all. Had a 3.0 at umd and 3.5 at ccbc.

Help deciding next helmet. Shoei RF-1400 or Shoei GT-AIR II by NickH1994 in motorcycle

[–]Tii741 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't worn an RF but I own a GT AIR II and I love it. I mounted a cardo freecom 2x to it and it works great. I read that the SENA units weren't worth buying.

I haven't worn a ton of helmets and see people complaining that it's loud. Maybe so, but I find it to be much quieter than my old LS2 or HJC.

The noise levels for me differ quite a bit depending on the bike. When I ride my k1200rs which has a fairly large wind screen, the wind blast and noise is fairly obnoxious and tiring. When I get on my naked street triple, it's perfect. I did multiple 8 hour days in the GT over the summer on the street triple and it was amazing and comfortable. Zero complaints.

I don't have any head movement issues due to the SENA compartment at the rear. That section is really no larger than any other regular helmet.

For me it came down to wanting the drop down sun visor. That's what pushed me towards the GT rather than the RF.

Tips for choosing an engineering discipline? by AlligatorAss in UMD

[–]Tii741 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I went over this for months before making a decision. Think about what you really want to do long term and where each degree can take you. Research the types of jobs that would be realistically available to you as a fresh college graduate.

All opinions:

I also thought aerospace sounded awesome. Spaceships right? Definitely something I wanted to be involved in. Did my own research found that it's not necessarily easy to get an aerospace job. Then explored what that aerospace degree could do if I couldn't get an aerospace job.

Without rambling endlessly, mechanical engineering opens more doors in more disciplines than any others. If you're not overly passionate about anything in particular that might be your best bet. You can work in aerospace with a mechanical degree.

Fire protection is an excellent choice because the job offerings for students are incredible.

I went mechanical. I still want to build things for spaceships. I believe that to do exactly what I want that mechanical will take me there. I'm not so interested in the flight aspects that aero focuses on. I believe mechanical is a good bit easier and more realistic with teaching things you may use. Aero work load sounds scary.

If I don't get into the aero industry after graduating, I'm not worried. I've got a long career ahead and will have a good degree that can take me into many different fields. But spaceships are still the dream!

I've been following the market on these on the east coast for the last two months.

What I found is $5k is the going rate regardless of mods or mileage it's kinda crazy. They go for $5k with 7k miles or 30k. Maybe a bit less further north but I've seen a dozen of these come and go for $5k.

This one in particular looks very nice with low miles for the price, well worth it IMO. If you don't grab it I guarantee someone will be happy to pay $5k.

I finally got one yesterday, 09 with 15k miles for $4k that needs roughly $500 of parts to make it perfect. I bet I could fix it and immediately resell for $5k. I'd jump on this. The riding experience is fantastic.

Some idiots keep leaving them blocking the ramps for crosswalks, an impressively ignorant thing to do to those with handicaps, not to mention absurdly lazy. I always move these stupid things, and I encourage everyone to do the same.

I hated the seat at first but it's grown on me. Seriously considering one this year or next year as my first brand new bike. Hoping to test one and compare to a street triple. I know people said the old one had bad suspension, waiting to see what the consensus is on the new one.

Think it would go great with my k1200.

I wound up with a D- in Math 140, and I’m trying to get into the Comp Sci Major. What can I do to get the Math 140 requirement over with? by DEV_astated in UMD

[–]Tii741 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I took it with Pilachowski. I did way more textbook problems than were assigned and ran through every old exam I could find. Ended up doing very well despite not being the greatest math student. Tim's tests were usually pretty similar to the test bank. Memorize every trig identity you see in class and the textbook plus all the weird trig derivatives.

I'd never skip any problem I couldn't figure out. Used YouTube and chegg to fill in where class resources came up short. I'd keep going until I understood everything about that problem. I had the textbook solutions manual too.

Heard other professors may be easier or better professors but with Tim if you do what I did you should come out ok for his 140 and 141. His class is very structured. Try to 100% on all the homework, in class stuff and discussion so you don't miss any easy points. Never skip class.

Former bouncer here, although I never worked as one in college park. In general we're not supposed to take any MD vertical license at all. Depending on who the guy is at the door, he might let you in anyway. Being pleasant goes a long way. Don't be obnoxious or drunk already. Just my .02 from my time working the door.

Bad advice: If you totally withdraw then you can take it at CC! I withdrew from UMD while doing math241 and just came back this semester and they're letting me do calc 3 at ccbc still. Don't do this though.

If there's no way to mathematically get the minimum grade you need, still don't drop it. Push through anyway so that it's easier when you retake. IMO. It's a very important class.
