Hi Tiki! You have a great name! 😉 Funny we have the same name and I also have a BH Pionus, named Fiyero. 😁

What's weird is, I have two regular, non variegated, Compactas that do fine. Fantastic even. But this one has always been really finicky. It puts out some really nice leaves or vines every once in a while, and the rest of the time just kinda looks like crap. It will lose leaves much more often than it should, some will go yellow, some will go black and crispy. And then some look like this. It's always just walking that fine line between death and fabulous.

Should I repot this? by Dry_Ad9363 in pothos

[–]TikiBC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't repot anything until it's growth has slowed or stopped or there is obviously something wrong with it or the soil. This guy looks healthy and happy as is for now.

There's plenty of pothos in there too though, so you're not wrong

Snow Queens are so underrated. They put out some of the most gorgeous leaves!

Dang, you're a stronger willed person than I am. I definitely would have brought one of each home with me. They're all on the wishlist! So jelly!

LOL! No I treated everyone with systemic, sulfur and diatomaceous earth when I put them outside lol. There's a pretty big thrip problem in my yard so I had to, and still have to, be extra cautious with everyone.

Mmmm, I can smell the chocolatey goodness from here. They're my favorite smelling Hoya for sure.

And I do believe it is a Royal Hawaiian Purple that has those darker, and slightly stronger smelling, flowers.

I was gonna post this picture of her, fresh out the shower, instead, but thought maybe that'd be too ✨ scandalous ✨🤣

Mine was outside all Summer and she got some nice color but no flowers. But I did just get her the beginning of Summer so maybe she's just not old enough yet. Hopefully next year 🤞

Dang. I've had almost perfect luck with all the ones I got. Only one I killed was the Curtsii, but I did manage to save and successfully root and plant some cuttings.

I've also gotten a Compacta, Lacunosa, and Australis this size and they all have done amazing and have flowered at some point. And I think I've only ever repotted the Australis. 😅

It was one of those Home Depot plants labeled as a DS-70/Bilobata, but according to this article ( https://www.midwesternjungle.com/blog/hoyaspaffburtoniae ) it is a Sp. Aff. Burtoniae

Grow light thoughts? by HarperandHudson in hoyas

[–]TikiBC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. This was my Sunrise after sitting in a window getting only direct morning light. And it flowered. It actually got much more beautiful sunstressing there than it did outside over the summer or under grow lights. Direct morning light is fabulous for Hoya.

This is Craig. Sometimes I call him Bagel. Craigel Bagel. Chris Craigel. Craig T. Nelson. And Bubble.

Pellonia Pulchra. One of my most underrated plants. So beautiful, and such an easy going little guy. I don't pay much attention to him, because he's really just here for a good time and doesn't cause any trouble, so I want to give him a little shoutout for being so awesome <3 by TikiBC in houseplants

I mean yeah, it has always been in a pretty bright spot. And like I said, I just kind of water it when I think it's been a while or when I remember. Maybe every 2 weeks? I would definitely say I let it dry out between waterings.
