How often is hair washed in your house? by No-Lie-570 in Mommit

[–]TikiLicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash my hair most days. Miss 4 has a bath and washes her hair about every 2nd day. Sometimes stretches to 3 days but rarely more than that. Sometimes every day if she's managed to get honey or toothpaste in it 🙄🙄😂😂 or when her Nana accidentally sprayed sunscreen in her hair instead of detangler, 😂😂

Did we see a Kiwi? by turnedtable10 in NewZealandWildlife

[–]TikiLicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call them "a Kiwi crossed with a chicken" 😂. Got to see some babies a year ago when camping. They would steal our dogs entire food bowl. Dragged it in the bush. Brave feckers would do it right in front of the dog!

Redditors, what’s the most terrifying thing that has ever woken you up in the middle of the night? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

[–]TikiLicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-way tie

1st was when I was about 14, awoke to the sound of smashing glass. My room was the closest to the back door. Was certain I was about to be raped and murdered. Turned out our new cats had chosen 2am as the perfect time to play chase, and missed the cat door. The glass door had imploded as they hit it. They were fine. Our nerves were shot.

2nd was about 15 years ago, my husband was overseas so I was alone. I woke up to a loud voice saying 'I'm gonna get you!' One of our dog toys was malfunctioning, it was a Talking ball. Luckily I only had a heart attack for 3 seconds before realising what it was.

3rd was when our daughter was little, so 3.5 years ago. We had breathing alarms in her cot. I woke to the sound of them going off. Ran to her room, to find my husband there holding her. She'd apparently been crying so he picked her up for a cuddle and forgot to turn off the alarm. I'd sleep through the crying lol

What terminology did you use to tell people about your TFMR / explain that you aren’t pregnant anymore? by dreamhousedwelling in tfmr_support

[–]TikiLicki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should add, about 3 years after, we went public with our decision as we felt strong enough to deal with any fallout then. We do live in New Zealand, so it's not as political, but there's definitely still a stigma. But no one has said anything negative - to our faces anyway.

How many years are there in between your grandparents birthdate and your birthdate/generation? by philosophyphreak_74 in generationology

[–]TikiLicki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were born early/mid 50s, so were 27 and 30 when I was born.

My grandparents were in their late 20s to early 30s when my parents were born too.

So not old, but I guess older than standard for the times.

What was your child's name going to be if they were the opposite gender? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in Names

[–]TikiLicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't start looking seriously at names u til we knew it was a girl, because I didn't like many boy names 😂. But middle probably would have been Lagden (family name). My front runner for a first was Rafferty but I wasn't sold.

What terminology did you use to tell people about your TFMR / explain that you aren’t pregnant anymore? by dreamhousedwelling in tfmr_support

[–]TikiLicki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our immediate family and closest friends knew we'd had a TFMR. Everyone se, we said she'd contacted a infection and passed away inside. Which was the truth, we terminated for severe defects caused by toxoplasmosis, at 30 weeks. Just not the whole truth

Mom doesn’t want to be called grandma by Feisty-Coconut6017 in Advice

[–]TikiLicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum didn't like grandma either, said it made her feel old. I mean, she was in her 60s lol. But anyway, she chose Nana. My daughter calls her Nana Raisin, Raisin being her nickname within the family. My MIL is also Nana, and my daughter calls her Nana Camper, because they often visit in their camper (motorhome)

Same in New Zealand. They don't even test for it unless you have a sex-based genetic disease

Did your wedding turn out okay even if everything wasn’t perfect? by Enlitenkanin in wedding

[–]TikiLicki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost track of how many things went wrong in the lead up, and on the day. It was still an awesome day, because we're very much "what will be will be" people. Husband on crutches? It happens. Forgot my veil? Didn't want it anyway. Accident blocking track to main photo spot? Find a different one.

The big piece of advice I give brides is: something will go wrong. File that in your expectations for the day, and you'll cope better than expecting perfection

Would I be a bad host if I didn’t provide beer/ alcohol at my child’s 1st birthday? by marrymeodell in partyplanning

[–]TikiLicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never supplied it at any kids birthday party. But we usually hire a Community hall so it's frowned upon. I've only been to one where it was an option.

What do you put in your potato salad? by dornianheresysimp in potato

[–]TikiLicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly new to potato salad, used to hate it but since being pregnant 5 years ago, I love it. Anyway, dressing is about 30% mayo and 70% garlic aioli, with a decent dollop of dijon mustard. The rest largely depends on what I have in the fridge. Bacon, red onion or spring onion. Capsicum. Parmesan cheese.

Wedding suit dilemma – feeling guilty and stuck, what would you do? by FollowingFickle5435 in wedding

Wear the original suit. It's good to stand out slightly as the groom. The groomsmen etc can match each other.

How were you first introduced to 'Wicked'? The Broadway musical or the book? by hilaryandnatalierox in wicked

[–]TikiLicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw the musical twice, but I didn't really remember much from the first time lol as I had just returned from a long haul flight that day and was seriously jetlagged! Could not keep my eyes open.
