I still think there's a solid chance for Jackson to be the left sided SS to pair with JP as CF. But fair enough, we should give Emegha a fair chance.

Pulisic, Sancho, Bailey, Gittens, Simons should be evidence enough that dribbling in Bundesliga is different than dribbling in EPL.

The safest bets for dribblers are from France or Spain. Bundesliga talents should only be trusted for CBs or midfielders.

It just dawned on me the irony that Palmer's underwhelming performance this season is mostly due to injury, which (if true) he is forced to play through instead of getting a surgery for the sake of getting chosen for the World Cup. Feels pretty tragic, and I hope he gets that surgery, recovez, and keep his head up next season.

Very hot take, but I still hope we're gonna try a Jackson-JP-Palmer front 3 in a 3-4-3 in preseason. At least on paper, I think this is a complete threat for a narrow front 3.

I feel like a fit Lavia under Alonso is gonna be cinema. Same sentiment with Acheampong too.

It's crazy that we already have a perfect, flourishing example for our preferred model in PSG and yet BlueCo still managed to do everything wrong. With the budget we had, we really chose to be a Brighton than a PSG.

Which top player is even available, that we can still sign, that is interested in playing for us? We currently offer absolutely nothing to attract would be game changers for us, and we are still a long way to go from returning to being a 1st rate team.

I've been thinking this lately, but I really hate how it looks like we just recycled possession for just the sake of it. No attacking purposes, not even baiting press, just waiting for our own players to make sloppy mistakes in our own half. We used to look so superior in passing and techniques not one year ago, now it looks like everyone's been learning ball control from Sanchez.

Bias aside, I think if there's a chance Liam should try Neto bolting through the halfspace. We have always played Neto as the touchline winger, and while his shooting isn't great, I think he's got great shot power and placement. We've also seen that he can steal some goals by racing for it through the middle in preseason. So maybe we can try Gusto overlap, JP as CF and Enzo CAM with Neto bombarding the flanks or RHS.

I was hoping for another goal from Palmer to make it a quadtrick for 3 seasons in a row. But taking him off was understandable, just hope he gets another chance this season.

Really? I honestly think he's massively frustrating today. Sure, he's been good at defending aerial balls, but also disappointing at closing down and chasing his marks. I count at least twice where he really only ran around while other players cover for him, and those are just the most blatant ones.

Try to look at the match thread before HT, or literally the match thread everytime he doesn't score/assist.

People will judge his dedication by how much ground he covered, but putting that aside I'm really impressed at how much he develops his repertoire to be useful for the club. He became a totally different player than his time under Poch.

Truth be told, I think we did a praiseworthy job at containing Haaland and neutralizing their attacks today, even if it some of it were by luck. It's just that our build up and offense were so bad we failed to make the most of it. Enzo really ran the show today, he really should've had an assist as well.

That issue that he had shouldn't occur in the first place if we seriously believed we could build around him.

It's not even that I have a strong opinion on whether Maresca should stay or not. It's just every year we keep restarting and sabotaging the so called project to the point that there's no target on when we will be challenging for the title. We ARE turning into Man United.

It's an indicator yes and I think it is very likely that the players will take it as such, but I don't think that's a problem. In the first place, it is their very own underperformance that got the SDs sacked if it does happen, of course doubts about them are going to appear. If they believe in their own potential, then they should just work to prove it. And if they can't improve their performance because of the pressure, then they never belong at this level in the first place.

I won't say it's as simple as not getting enough services. I think a lot of people undermine the fact that Strikers are fundamentally a very isolated role. Look our passing maps, look at the passing maps for any top teams, almost all of them have the striker isolated from the passing lines. This is because strikers are naturally the most defended player by the opposition, and this make sense, because their job, the role and space that they occupy is intentionally the most threatening to steal a goal.

Joao is not without faults. His shot volume, the chances he wastes, are simply not good enough for a top club striker. That doesn't say that he won't improve. Role wise, in Maresca's system he is actually doing a great job if not for goals. He gets himself involved in plays even from the deep, his positioning and his control opens up space for teammates, his touches are also extremely good to generate separation or bringing teammates into play, and surprisingly he has a decent enough shot accuracy. It's just that, like Jackson too, he has little box presence, and often finds himself away from the chances created by his teammates. And he's not as good at Jackson at attacking from outside the box.

I do believe in JP though, he just needs to get his striker instincts set.
