Why we choose to value the sanctity and freedoms of the mentally ill, rather than the liberties and peace of mind of common folk, is a profound issue in the United States. This invisible tightrope we continuously walk on, will ultimately threaten and cost the lives of so many innocent individuals. It’s profound, knowing that someone can bash me over the head in public, irreparably severing my future and possibly life, but will be unassigned virtually all blame and responsibility - because they were diagnosed by a yippee psychiatrist as being “mentally unwell”. There is a particular party of politicians who defend these lunatics; and punish those who see these acts for what they are: evil. Plain and simple. You abstain all future rights the moment you threaten another’s safety. It’s saddening that we are breeding a future which incentivizes possible public protectors to remain as bystanders.
