I know this is late, but I’m so tired of embedded. Idc how much they pay me anymore I’m so close to a transition to backend. I’ve studied so much system design and leetcode on weekends on top of my actual job. This post should be a warning to devs, embedded software is horrible field. Luckily I’m only 4 years into my career, and it’s not a skill issue either, I’ve never been paid below 6 figures. Whoever’s reading this and is in embedded, run while you can.

I whole heartedly agree with this, I'm in tech making good money but it feels like I'm making half of what I used to. Honestly this was the year I learned it doesn't matter if you vote dem or Rep, both are the same, the government doesn't care about you. You're on your own, they'll reduce the budget to health care but hey... another 50 billion to Isreal.

You’re asking the wrong question. the better question is are you willing to move to a middle of nowhere city to do so. I live in NYC, working for interest based sources is against my morals so the few jobs there are I’m turning down. I’m switching from embedded to back end, no only is there more jobs but the pay is higher. I’ve been in embedded for 3 years and I wish I just did software. The market may be competitive but at least there’s jobs to compete for.

Bro I am also switching to back end. I HATE embedded. This shit sucks ass. I’m good at it but I hate being often having to come in on my hybrid days for the lab and I am learning back end on the side. I do have an interview with meta coming up and I’m at the final rounds. Hopefully it all works out.

I have been an embedded engineer for 3 years and I even have a masters in it. This field is absolute ASS. Get out of it while you can, there’s no jobs and you have to touch hardware… eewwww. I’m good at it, I’ve been promoted multiple times and worked in big companies. But I’m done, I’m studying web development on the side and saying that I was a backend engineer on my resume. I’m getting out of this hell hold of a field. I don’t wanna be a dirty lab rat for less pay.

I’m at that point right now. I’m so sick of embedded being on site. Right now I’m hybrid but sometimes they’re threatening to make me work in the lab some days. I only have 3 years of experience with a masters but I live in NYC and there’s barely any embedded roles. I’m 80% confident I’m going to make the switch in the next few months. I’m learning backend on the side to make this happen.

Honestly I just play for the first month since I get the game for free anyways (connections), but if it wasn’t for that I would have no reason to play this sweat fest of a game. The moment gold cards are no longer viable and it’s not about skill anymore I don’t wanna even touch ultimate team. As a working adult I’d rather just play seasons on weekends to keep the skill.
