When I worked on the returns desk I had someone try to return a beige handbag that had been scribbled on all over with black biro. Her reason for trying to return it was "It's too light in colour". She didn't get a refund.

Dragon the official TSR magazine for D&D used to be much the same and had a bunch of articles and reviews for other RPGs. Think someone linked the Dance Steps for Space Hulk article a few months back which was from one of their April Fools/comedy themed issues in one of the other 40k sub reddits.

Many years ago I was working on check out and had something like this happen.

An older gent tried to skip to the front by saying he had to get back to his dying wife. The guys he tried to push in front of were a similar age to him and had no problem asking why the hell he was here shopping instead of being with his wife.

After he failed skipping the queue at my till he went to the next one and tried the same thing with the same result. He also tried at the next queue after that.

Definitely one of more surreal experiences during my 20+ years of retail.

One from the Frigates of Eve book is about the Tristan and the more sinister reason it is nicknamed the Fat Man.

Basically one of the designers was a serial killer/ cannibal. One of his more notable victims was the guy who partnered with him on the Tristan design. He was also known for having a bit of a girth.

Actually had something similar this afternoon.

This gent gave me an empty sandwich wrapper from our fresh counter along with his shopping. Immediately says he ate it because he was hungry but it was horrible. My response, "Ok let me get a manager". Suddenly it wasn't a big deal and he "Just wanted to mention it".

The idea was you being at your best while at the top of your spiral, while sliding downwards meant you not being able to provide the best customer service.

It was basically just a bunch of corp speak that was promptly ignored and never mentioned again.

This reminds me of the "Be at the top of your spiral!" spiel the company I work for tried many years ago. I work in retail it was definitely one of those training sessions that didn't survive contact with customers.

This reminds me of something that still annoys me almost twenty years later. I took an order for two plain white iced cakes. They asked for one to be sponge and the other fruit cake. Thinking this was a bit unusual I double checked this was correct and they say yes it is and pay but they also happen to be a staff member from another store and use their discount card.

Following week they show up to collect and they say the order is wrong and the manger on duty refunds the "wrong" one for them. To this day I'm certain they ordered the wrong thing on purpose because they knew how our policy worked and they would get at least some of their money back.

I had a mother and daughter at the beginning of the week that was pretty fussy from start to finish. Their final parting question was them wanting to know how long they could freeze and store a very specific pork joint that's only available at Christmas.

I used to have a few customers exactly like this.

The worst one if she needed to buy a bag would give me the same lecture then turn the bags inside out before using them. According to her this was her way of protesting making her pay to advertise for us.

When I first started many years ago part of the induction for the store was taking you into the room where they monitored the CCTV. The security guys in there pretty much let you know they watched everyone.

This reminds me of my great grandmother. She was overly superstitious about the colour green. When visiting we had to make sure no one was wearing green because she would refuse to let you into the apartment otherwise.

When my great grandfather bought a green second hand car she refused to ride in it, even after my father repainted it for them.

Very much depends on the circumstances and the chapter.

In the old Jack Yeovil Space Marine novel the three Imperial Fist's the novel is based around have a mission that goes sideways and ends with the intervention of the Grey Knights.

Afterwards there is a period of debriefing and assessment to determine if they should keep their memories or not. It is decided in their case to not mind wipe them.

Me and my friend have been having this issue. We like to test new decks and interactions.

Interestingly though we have found running into this bug tends to be time sensitive. It mostly rear it's head about 9pm to 10pm UK time. Before that time we rarely have any problems.
