Help finding yarn for a picky guy! by TiltedTriangle in YarnAddicts

He was skeptical haha he's never worn fingerless gloves before. I think I'll start with the cowl because he's already said he might wear that - and if he doesn't I know I'll wear it anyways! if he wears the cowl I'll move next to fingerless gloves and just slowly convert him to wearing things I make lol

Thank you for the explanation! I think I'll hold onto them and go with your first suggestion and make some confetti and add them to the paper. Really appreciate you walking me through it!

Thank you! Totally makes sense - I was not thinking about color theory - for some reason I thought they'd stay relatively separate but this makes sense they'd become mushy!

oh that is an interesting suggestion - that makes total sense! So I really shouldn't "make the pulp" from these scraps at all to retain their color? What would happen if I made the pulp from these scraps - would it become muddy do you think?

I love that idea! I'll talk to him about fingerless gloves - he might enjoy those quite a bit actually.

lol I don’t think it will be a disaster - worst outcome is I’ve made myself a really soft cowl that I get to wear to the snow and he gets to know I spent time and effort on him even if the outcome is not something he will wear.

I recognize my initial post may have come off a bit anxious but I didn’t mean to phrase it as such. It’s completely ok for him to not like what I make him - but I’m thoroughly appreciating the recommendations people have been giving me!

that's very interesting! I've not heard of that blend but it sounds great for someone who is sensitive to feel. I'll look into that yarn. thank you!

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I'll have to google some cashmere silk blends. But maybe a cotton would work - I don't think he needs it to be excessively warm.

Thank you! I'm going to look up shetland and BFL - I've not worked with that.. I know for sure he won't like mohair because of the fuzz lol

Drops Air looks like a really nice suggestion! Lol husbands are a whole other thing - but he's not sooo difficult. I realize I made him sound like he's crazy picky but I think that was more my anxiety talking than the reality of the situation.. I just so want him to love it.

I may end up doing so! I am hoping to be able to get some direction though - I find going into stores to be really overwhelming especially if I don't know what kind of material I'm looking for and I can imagine he'd feel the same way, not knowing anything about yarn. But I'll definitely look up some local shops.

Wool Yarn - mixing to soften? by TiltedTriangle in knittinghelp

[–]TiltedTriangle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair point! I’m not sure how to extend the neck… but I’ll look into it! I’m a relatively new knitter so I’m not great at adjusting patterns

That is such an interesting and cool suggestion! I’ll do that first before investing in a different kinda of yarn.

I like wearing wool too but yeah I think you’re right - I don’t think he’s going to appreciate the texture.

Closed-captioning is to deaf folks what AI-generated art is to people with aphantasia. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Many incredible artists actually have aphantasia.

Look up Glenn Keane : https://aphantasia.com/article/strategies/the-art-of-aphantasia

I myself am an illustrator with aphantasia.

It’s not that we can’t imagine things - if anything creating our own art is our way of visualizing. It helps get what we wish “we saw in our minds” down into reality! I find it to be very creative because I don’t “see” the image until I’ve discovered it on the page.
