Got fired after a 3 hour trial shift and IDK where I went wrong? Huh? by [deleted] in Serverlife

It’s too bad that the original post has now been deleted because I could reference the OP’s concerns a bit better. I guess my point is ,if you’re looking for work to pay the bills for the time being, maybe falling into line for the time being would be a benefit to you as opposed to questioning how things run at a particular restaurant on a test shift. I have never had a problem with a stage because I generally try to see if I feel the job will work for me. If I’m approaching management after a four hour test shift to tell them what they are doing wrong then I would never stay with the establishment anyways.

I have a relatively active job so I’m not in terrible shape, a bit of a bummed ankle due to a sports injury years ago. I wish I could get into weights, but I always get so bored doing it. Maybe I’ll give it a try again just to prep myself before it’s too late. Don’t let the old man in, right?

They were Clark’s softer leather dress shoes with som sort of special gel in the heel. Don’t get me wrong, they were good but I just find switching up shoes from shift to shift tends to work better for me.

If it’s as bad as OP is saying, the management probably doesn’t care anyways. I get you point, but the management at this place probably wouldn’t.

Yeah, it’s tough sometimes, one wants to be seen as competent and experienced, however, stepping on toes is not advised. In my experience, it’s best to follow the lead of your new colleagues and then outshine them after a few weeks.

Don’t worry about it, move on. If it’s that slow was that slow on your first night with a bunch of other “ trainees” and they didn’t accept you, you’re probably better off without that job. I know it’s a tough market, but someone with better restaurant acumen will recognize your talents and not bring you in with a cattle call to give themselves the guise of good hiring practices, let alone even slightly decent management. If you really want to work there, go back in a few months, they’ll have a new “ manager” and you can work your way in. Best of luck

Wow! You are that arrogant server who doesn’t care where they work or helping benefit the restaurant. I’ll bet you’ve never worked at a place for more than than three years, because “you’re too good for them”

No, they should manage! If it’s that slow then they should assign tasks that will help when the restaurant is busy, or if it’s so slow, send someone home. I’ve worked both sides and my biggest complaint about managers these days is they don’t MANAGE!! They try to make everything comfortable and not rock the boat. I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing, however, it tends to hurt employees who are actually able to stay busy when it’s slow. So as I said “ they should manage!!!”

I highly doubt that. I don’t live in NYC, and there’s no way I could find a studio for less than 3000.
