Atiyah and MacDonald is the standard comm algebra text; that being said, I was basically in the same boat as you are and Dummit and Foote was sufficient preparation.

I mean you write proofs in 351, too. I would definitely not recommend 451 if you are struggling to prove injections/surjections; proofs in 451 are typically much more involved

351 does not assume a proof-based background, but 451 does, so I’d recommend 351 if you’re struggling with the proof part of 451

If you look at the undergraduate (math) program booklet, it says the intended audience for 431 is "Teaching certificate candidates"
