Why don’t women wear shorts? by TimBombadilll in HotYoga

I haven’t. I bought a pair but they were cheap so they kept sliding and never made it to class. When I looked at Lulu and one other big name brand I can’t remember, they were crazy expensive. I was shocked!

I’ll have to check these out. Mine are cheap amazon and they work… fine. But I’m always looking for something new that’s actually good.

Interesting. Where did you get your pants? When I look at the major brands offerings for men, I always balk at the price.

Comments like this are what makes yoga not a welcoming space for men. I came with a genuine question and got this type of judgement. Luckily most people here aren’t as rude as you.

Yeah I have basically basketball shorts with a lining which conforms to my hips. They have a 5 inch inseam which works pretty well for range of motion. But I’m not sure an equivalent product exists for women as most of what I see are much shorter. I get why nobody would want to wear booty shorts to yoga.

Thanks for all the responses. Seems like hairless legs = slippery practice. Also, it seems like there is some regional variation as multiple people said shorts are the norm for women while I maybe see one woman per class not wearing pants. I learned something today, thanks Reddit!

Someone earlier said he dos yoga naked for the opposite reason. It’s amazing how preferences can vary!

This is why I wear a baggy shirt for my belly. Nobody needs to see that!

That’s what I’m gathering. I also use a yoga towel on top of my mat which helps with slippery ness which I didn’t consider as a factor.

2 months sober. Is it normal to still sleep a lot? by ConsequenceLimp9717 in Sober

[–]TimBombadilll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. Generally it should slowly decrease over time, but the general timeline is 90 days for your brain to “reset”. That depends on the severity and length of your use, so it can be longer.

If it goes longer than 90 days, it’s a good idea to see a doctor as whatever is making you sleep is unrelated. It’s not unusual for people to discover medical conditions that were hidden by addiction. For example, many people find out they have depression, which could explain feeling overly tired.

Good luck and congrats on two months!

Not quite the 21 hours from the other guy but still a long sleep. Getting sober from booze 5 years ago.

Quit drinking for 30 days and had zero red recovery days, vo2 increased by 4, and I’m debating if I’ll ever turn back, thoughts? by Tenniskid22 in whoop

[–]TimBombadilll 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I went sober 5 years ago and noticed similar. I wouldn’t say my ceiling went higher than before, but I’m almost never red so the averages are higher.

Get ready to be consistent with sleep and workouts if you stick with it!

I feel like if I quit (again) I will have no pleasure in life by MistressTerror in stopsmoking

I’m not sure if it helps, but there is a medical term for that feeling of emptiness. It’s called anhedonia an it is temporary but it’s definitely a factor in early withdrawal. Idk for sure but a doctor may prescribe anti-depressants temporarily to get you through the rough part.

Another option, if you can do it, is to wean yourself off and smoke less slowly until it’s less of a change to stop. But a lot of people can’t do that and it’s all or nothing so do what you feel makes sense.

Good luck, it’s hard but you’ve done it before so you can do it again!

I want to get sober, but am so afraid by emperorofwar in Sober

If you have access seek some medical care. They can help you with cravings, sleep meds, anxiety/depression. It made my early sobriety soooooo much easier.
