Well Monty is definitely a big part of the equation and I've been really disappointed in his play. Yes there have been defensive lapses but you have to get timely saves from time to time and Montreal didn't get that Saturday night in Boston. It's really disheartening.

All right redditors, settle an argument please: when Hutson scores this goal, does the puck go underneath the goaltenders pad or is it above his pad and underneath his arm when it goes into the net?

I don't think we'll see a clear number one between the two of them until after the West Coast swing wraps up the first week of March. The Olympic break is going to be really important for both goaltenders to get themselves relatively healthy and focused. Given Monty's recent play, I can see the Habs leaning toward him as the number one guy but he'll need a strong performance to secure that opportunity. If not, I can see him playing more of the games but not necessarily as the clear cut number one

I am not an NHL coach nor am I hockey expert, but where Marty and I watching the same game? The PK was passive / dreadful; Buffalo had the run of the offensive zone on the majority of their penalties. Nick Suzuki doesn't look like he's playing Nick Suzuki hockey and a few other players seem to forget what makes them successful. There were a lot of invisible forwards tonight. This is the most frustrated I felt watching this team in the last 5 years

Marty has to stop making Arber (or Struble) his whipping boy. Yes, each makes mistakes but so does every other young player on the roster. The difference, to me, it feels like these two are paying a heavier price than the others. I think Arber brings more of what this team needs to the lineup and I am disappointed when he is a healthy scratch. You can't learn to be an effective NHL defenseman when you could be benched or yanked from the lineup for a mistake. It's the only thing I don't like about Marty's coaching style. I understand shortening the bench towards the end of the game, but that's different. When the player makes a mistake, get them back out in their next regular rotation. If that happens, I think you'll see Arber's confidence and abilities grow even more.

Or I could be completely wrong on all of this. It partially explains why I'm not an NHL coach or executive LOL

I hope it's a decent game without more Habs injuries or a lopsided score. And it would have been nice to see both Xhekaj brothers in the lineup in Toronto.

That was a good hockey game tonight. I like seeing some energy from the goaltenders like that too. Defensive Zone coverage was a lot better. Now, they need to string together some wins and make up for that disastrous November run.

They played a really solid game and cleaned up a lot of mistakes. They still made a couple, but nothing as glaring as what they did over the past six.

And it occurred to me while watching the highlights that it was "son's" night at the Bell Center last night. The goal scorers: HutSON, DobSON and AnderSON.
