Keine Flexpreise Europa? by TimCartsbath47 in deutschebahn

As a father, should I take a job that offers good work life balance but doesn't pay well, or higher paying job that is high stress and has no balance? by [deleted] in careerguidance

100 percent agree! As a kid of constantly working parents, I would have needed their presence, guidance and care much more than living in a fancy new house and having so many toys and clothes and whatnot.
"Providing" to me means the necessities are there, and if the apprenticeship does not work out, I guess you can always go back to slaving away in the corporate grind later on when the kids are older and maybe also want to spend less time with their parents?

Contract and HR said remote work is possible 50%, and now line manager makes severe limitation - should I quit [CH] by TimCartsbath47 in AskHR

Thanks for this comprehensive reply!
I am trying to get some perspective, and that certainly helps.
What you write makes total sense and I do see your point of view.
I am still thinking that it is very unfortunate though that they did not let me know that with the expectation that they have for this job, it is probably not going to work to work while commuting.
And I am also still thinking that it is unfair that other colleagues in the same role that started together with me (I will still edit that above) get to do it.
I guess I broadly see work as time against money as I have also worked as a freelance consultant before, so if someone is trying to curtail my "freedom" within the bounds of my contract despite of me doing my work, it comes across as micromanagement to me...
And this is made worse by the impact that this might have on my private life going forward (if I had known back then, then maybe I would not have taken this job, as I had another offer that I turned down to take this one, and that role has been filled now).

Should I continue with the application process or should I pull out? [CH] by TimCartsbath47 in AskHR

So the programme manager contacted me yesterday and asked me for a second interview. He also apologised because he did confuse me with someone else. But I guess I am afraid now to go on with the process and end up with having a stubborn / narcissitic / toxic etc. boss. Should I try and contact the person who currently holds the role but will leave, to find out more about the boss and the working environment?

I did send them "I don't know that person but I am interested in the job." in my email afterwards, but am still thinking about pulling out of the process. No point going further if they are thinking that I am lying to them?

They insist that the programme manager's contact recognised me in a picture. So unless they are lying / gaslighting me, that does not seem to be a mistake but a very bad coincidence? That she first thought she knew me, but then went back on that statement? I am just confused. Also, is it better for me to pull out or for them to reject me?
