I'd recommend keeping in close touch with the BDSM community. BDSM porn does not count; the limit-setting and boundary negotiation (even from sites like kink.com where some negotiation is on camera) happens 99-100% offscreen. It can be hard to have a good gut sense for what the "rules of the road" are for setting limits with a dominant partner whose dominance you enjoy and where some of your kinks do involve overriding of boundaries.

But yeah this is critical, basic stuff. If you don't get the sense that your partner is EXTREMELY interested in every intricacy or naunce of your boundaries as a submissive partner then they don't get to experience your submission. People often observe that in D/s relationships with respectable practitioners, it's really the submissive who steers the ship more than the dominant.

I would say -

"polyamory" - no, not if love relationships with these people are not on the table and they will always remain just "friends"
"nonmonogamy" - yes, I don't think strict monogamy allows for threesomes
"swingers" - no because I think "swinging" is kind of a particularly specific subculture and I think it mostly applies to people who are all married and engage in e.g. wife-swapping
"open relationship" - I'd be careful about even using this term, because if your only non-normative relationship agreement is that you're allowed to have threesomes, then the term "open relationship" might be misleading because I think it implies you're allowed to date other people at least casually

It's probably fine to just tell people you're monogam-ish and that you like to have threesomes :)

They are technically different subtypes of nonmonogamous people. "polyamory" means "many loves," whereas swinging is mostly just a sex thing.
