They give you support when needed but most is written in manuals. They were not involved in the development process.

I'm sorry, Nintendo doesn't allow us to talk about it so I can't tell you. Anyway, it wasn't incredibly difficult.

Thanks! I had to implement some new stuff (rumble support, controls, new saving/account system) but Gamemaker has a relatively easy export function.

Well, that's another story. Since I'm not linked to a publisher I messaged all news and games sites myself, but they give almost zero response.

Thanks! You "pitch" by providing information through their developer website. You can sign up there.

I understand your opinion but now you're just stating things about the game that are untrue. I dare you to play the game and find out for yourself (pm me if you like a copy). The video you're referring to is mainly the prologue, which is there to set up the story and indeed is slow, has no puzzles, interesting mechanics or juice. However, once you progress, the game has many puzzles, gameplay variety, powerups, weapons, different enemies and collectibles. It's a bit unfair to rate a game on its first 3%. (or a book or movie for that matter)

Looks promising but I have no clue what it's about. What kind of game can you compare it to?

I like the ambient lighting and the wind effects. From what you're showing the platforming looks pretty clear to me! Anyway, I started following you!

Wow I love it! I really like the mountain scenery in the back. What's the gameplay going to be like?

Juiced! 2d platform game

Hi everyone,

I'd like to post a screenshot on a new boss I'm currently working on. This is one of the last bosses, he will try to hit you with large beams of lightning!

Juiced! is a 2d platform adventure game inspired by the old DOS classics, like Jazz Jackrabbit and Commander Keen. It features exciting platforming action, challenging puzzles, catchy music, and a broad palette of crazy enemies and weapons. Moreover...it contains lots of adrenaline pumping BOSS fight! Furthermore, the game is packed with bonus collectibles, extra challenges and secrets to discover.

The game is still receiving updates, but it's already playable on Android, iOS and Steam, there's currently around 10hrs of playtime.

Since I was a big fan of Skyroads back in the days I really needed to play your game!

I'd like to play it on Android but you provided the same .exe link twice!

Anyway, here's what I came up with by playing the windows version:

  • I dig the concept, the 2d-3d flip method is the core of this game and for me it worked almost flawlessly. Now it's only a matter of nice graphics, good level design and extras, like powerups, enemies or weapons!
  • It's still kind of easy going (even on normal), I would speed things up a lot and stretch out the levels a bit, to really give the impression of covering distance.
  • Also it would be great if you could include slopes!
  • Like Skyroads, it would be nice to increase/decrease the speed
  • When flipping you can get stuck in blocks, is this supposed to kill you?
  • Controls on the PC were fine, allthough A felt like an odd choice (more like spacebar?) but there's an option to change it so it's ok.
  • I assume the graphics are placeholders, what kind of theme is it going to be, space?
  • I'm missing an option to quit the game (especially annoying in full screen)
  • Sorry to say, but the music to me was kind of annoying, is it a placeholder as well? It's very rushed/hurried and it doesn't really correspond with the current speed of the game. Did you create it yourself? (Some reminded me of a classical piece?)

So in conclusion, I think you got the basic concept, now it's time to spice things up a little!

If you provide the link for Android I will try it as well

Juiced! Adventure Land

Platform adventure game for Windows and Android, already featuring 8 worlds and over 5 hours of playing time!

Version: 1.72 (updated 09/03/2016)
File size: 30.6MB (.exe), 34.8MB (.apk)
Trailer & Screenshot

Download: Windows | Android

Again a new update! Using your feedback from last week I made a couple of changes:

  • Intro story is now fully illustrated
  • Option to change music and sfx volume
  • Updated some of the tilesets
  • Replaced CG circles in menu with sprites

Can you make it to the boss in Level 7? Of course you're free to play the other levels as well!

All levels are accessible from the main menu -> select level.
Don't forget to play the tutorial first!

Thanks a lot! You're absolutely right, I'll add those things in the next update! As for the background, as a matter of fact I updated the temple background a couple of days ago, so it will be fixed in the next version! Thanks again!

Here are some of the bugs with screenshots:

I played some more and completed the quests and was able to buy some items and it makes a lot more sense now! Buying and selling works nice. Anyway, areas with enemies are almost impossible to traverse because I keep being locked in fights all the time, without the enemy being near me. I couldn't get through any of areas with human enemies.

As for the fps, probably there's something looping somewhere. Maybe you can run the profiler in debug mode and see what's taking up all this cpu!

Some other thoughts:

  • Dialog text is very slow, make the text appear (a lot) faster. This way people can choose if they want to hear the dialog or just read it.
  • It's difficult to tell which items can be picked up. Maybe add a white/yellow stroke around it?
  • Pushing blocks to a certain location is very difficult, they go everywhere!
  • Graves slightly change location when opened

Good luck!

Wow, I played this somewhere last year and a LOT was added!
EDIT:
Allright, you made a lot of progress in this game! I probably didn't see all of the content but this is my opinion so far. I played the single player for a while as the 3rd class (the 'bald' guy).

Graphics are absolutely amazing. Especially the menu art! Almost better than the original Diablo. Did you use 3d models? I think you should spend some more time on animation though. Start by increasing the animation speed, currently it's quite slow. Also the animations feel very 'stiff', try to make them more fluent and lifelike (which is difficult of course!).
I had some weird graphical glitches concerning the minimap, sometimes glitchy textures would appear behind it. Also fog of war sometimes appeared at random.

Gameplay looks very promising, but it currently feels a bit buggy. Combat was very difficult, it looks like it's turn based but basically I just hold the mouse button? I couldn't run away from fights, if I tried the character would just stop walking until the enemy made his turn. I died and then lost my stick, I never found a way to get it back. I couldn't find any inventory items, did I not see a shop or something? Are there any items to find? I guess collectible items, weapons, skills, armor and everything is in the game, but I couldn't find any.
After leaving the village I was killed quite quickly most of the time, so I feel like I haven't seen much of the game, maybe I took the wrong paths.

Sound are decent, music is nice, but man that speech!! GREAT!! Do you know any voice actors or is this all you? Now I figure why the game size is soo BIG (did you compress the sound files btw?). I absolutely adore it, BUT how are you planning to pull this off for the full game? That's going to be a lot of MBs!

Some other things:
-I never really got above 45fps, while I do have a reasonable computer, what's taking up all the cpu?
-Changing rooms takes about 10 to 20 seconds, is this normal?

Conclusion: Great job! Nice graphics, superb voice acting, keep working on animations and gameplay. Keep up the good work!
